Berkley Digital Lip Grip scale, Problem
Recently I purchased a Berkley Digital Lip Grip scale. It appears fairly easy to use, a no brainer tool. Turn it on, grip the fish by the lip, hoist and see how much the fish weighs. The only trouble with this one I bought is that quite often after turning it on, I can't get any weight to appear on the scale readout. It's turned on, but reads 0.0 most of the time no matter how much weight it is holding. The battery is brand new. Sometimes I can turn it on and pull on the grip and there will be a readout of the weight of pull. About half the time it just shows 0.0 no matter how hard you pull. I've never owned one of these scales before and it didn't come with much in the way of instructions. Is there a trick to using these things or do I just have a defective one?

My normal berkley scale will do that as well....Usually I can just reset it (off/on again) and it will work fine...Ive had that scale over a year now and its done it maybe 4-5 times where it just reads 0.0
Other than that it works greats and reads dead on when I calibrate it. Keith, I think we just need to hang bigger fish from em

Calibrate really wasnt the right word to use,sorry...Cant really make adjustments that I know of.....But yea its digital...I take a 5lb weight and weigh it on our shipping scale at work...Then compare it to the berkley and its always consistant with the weight reading...Maybe a .5 oz difference or so.

Keith, I have the same (or very close) Berkley Lip Grip Scale. Mine is the one with the 30lb capacity. I have never experienced this problems. I've weighed a 12-12.5lb musky as well as numerous 3-5 catfish with it. Haven't caught a bass big enough to weigh yet, lol.
I'd take it back and get a new one, or contact Berkley/Pure Fishing and see what they say. BB

I exchaged it for a new one yesterday and so far it seems to be working well. We'll see how long that lasts.
