And how many times do i have to say it...here it will use all capital letters so maybe yall can read it this time..... "They might have been christian, but the intent was a free country where every individual had the right to choose what religion they followed." by doc....

i can not see how someone who claims they are christians can vote for a party who supports gay marriage and abortions, if they do then they are truly not a christian.

You stated that anyone that does not vote or believe exactly as you are not truely christian. So you put your religious beliefs out in politics to be enfoced upon all non christians. So YES YOU ARE PUSHING YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, IN POLITICS.

As for implying that god was not a part of america when it was founded that is false, no one ever said that. What was said is America and its freedoms was not founded with the intent of everyone following Christian beliefs.

JUST BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE SOMETHING WITH EVERY FIBER OF YOUR BEING, KNOW IT TO BE TRUE, AND EVEN PREACH THE WORD TO OTHERS DOES NOT MEAN IT SHOULD BE A LAW EVERYONE HAS TO FOLLOW WHEN IT IS BASED UPON RELIGIOUS BELIEFS.

I am Christian, I do believe in the bible, and I do believe a woman has the right to choose, that my will should not be forced upon anyone.

Respectfully bowing out,

Dude...seriously.....I am not saying that iwant the government to force religion on anyone...I am saying that as christians you should not put your benefits before god....And yes i use my religious beleifs to influence my vote....you may or may not and i am not trying to force you to...So I am pushing religous beliefs but just because i say my religious beliefs in public does not mean i am forcing you to my religion or so...

and also, there are personal beliefs that are made laws all the time and forced upon us....America has always been that way...not everyone will be happy...and i am sure that when those laws were passed they were with personal beliefs and what influences your personal beliefs, your religious or non-religious beleifs...so for you to say it should not be, it already is...no matter what your religiougs beliefs or non-religous beliefs influence your personal opinion and when congress pass laws they use their personal beliefs...do they not...

And i am not retracting any thing i say.....again i will repeat...THou shalt put no other god before me.....thats can mean ping-pong, monopoly, money, or government...If a law was made that compromised my religious beliefs i would be in jail for...thats just how i feel....

and to end it with what i have already said.... (1) I am not forcing my whole religion on you...and (2) personal beliefs are influenced by religious or non-religious beliefs...

Ok, sorry it took me a bit to understand. Your religious beliefs outweigh all others and soely drive the way you vote. You believe anyone who doesnt do these things cant possibly be christian. You are pushing religious beliefs politically but just because you do does not mean you are forcing those who do not believe the same as you to live by your religous standards thru politics.

Hmmmmmmm, puzzeling!

I think you had it righ by your last sentence. Just because you SAY your religous beliefs in public does not mean i am forcing you to my religion or so.......

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

The Democrats won the Senate seat in Montana after a delayed neck-and-neck vote count was completed.
The race now hangs on Virginia, where a win would give the Democrats the six seats needed for a majority.
US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has already announced he will resign in the wake of Republicans' poll losses.
In Tuesday's poll, Democrats comfortably gained the 15 seats needed to wrest power from the Republicans in the lower chamber.
Correspondents say Democratic gains reflect voter discontent over Iraq, government corruption and the economy.
In Virginia, the Democrats have claimed victory with a lead of about 8,000 votes, but the Republicans are thought likely to demand a recount.
SENATE RACES

The results give the Democrats control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 12 years.

once again you are wrong. before 2006 dems havnt controlled the house for 12 years.

Wow religon and politics all wrapped up in one big sh*t storm , The long and short of the argument ya'll are having is simply finished by saying Obama sucks , McCain sucks but not as much as Obama .

If Obamas plan to raise taxes on individuals earning 250K plus a year goes into effect were do you think the biggest impact will be seen . Not in the top 2% income bracket it's worst effect will be seen in small independent buisness owners that employ a hand full of people likely forcing lay offs and such . How do you think that will affect our economy ? I'm not a Bush fan by any means but we have a economic situation that netheir canadate is capable of handling .

Oh I forgot the religous part of the rant . Is it really that big a deal I mean , I know a lot of people hate the pro choice movement but if your daughter was raped by a crack addict and ended up pregnent would you want that child ? Religous zelots are just as bad as any other group of crazies you can think of , making a scene just to get noticed .
And about gays I mean I'm not for it and I watch myself not to speak out against it as well , but think of this . If you had a heart attack and the ER doctor was a pole smoker would that change your mind about letting him save your life ? People are people and should all be treated with dignity regardless of their beliefs . One of the other things that gets me is how casually people throw god around , Religon still remains one of the most fought about issuses in the world and who is right ? Is it Christains , Buddest's , Musslims , Jews, or one of the trillion other belief structures that are around . This being a sportsmans foum the members here have a more profound belief in conservation and a passion for a sport the bridges the gaps in upbringings and demographics and while our countries structure does allow you the right to voice your opinions in public it also gives the same freedoms to the groups that you cannot stand weather it's gays , or pro choicers . And while the seperation of god and state or even or god and school irritates people it's how it is .

Hi Guys I’m kind of new here so I might not know all the ins and outs of this board. If I goof up and offend someone please forgive my ignorance.
I have read this thread from start to finish and even some of the links. First I would like to say I have been offended by some of what I read. Agreed with some of what I read and disagreed with some other things. The one thing that really bothers me is blaming Pres. Bush for all the problems with the world. Come on guys/gals NOT everything wrong in the world is Pres. Bush’s fault. There is enough blame to go around and if you listen to the major media outlets in this country you will see that most blame Pres. Bush for the ills of the country and the “state” controlled media outlets blame him for all the ills of the world.
My opinions:
President Bush is not perfect he is just a man with the toughest job in the world and is and has tried to do his best.
I will not vote for Senator Obama, not because he is Black, but because he does not have enough experience to run this country. And because he is way to Left for my taste. Taking money from Joe the plumber and giving it to the people behind him is just a little too socialist for me. He is also inexperienced in world affairs. The safety of my family and my Country is too important to me to let someone without experience run the military. Ok Senator McCain may not be experienced in economics, but I feel he will do a better job of protecting this Country. There are some bad people out there who want to kill you, your wife, your children, your mother and father. Many of those people that want to kill you and the above mentioned people are Muslim. One of their beliefs is that if you are born a Muslim and have as “holy” a name as Senator Obama has. You will always be a Muslim, even if you “convert” to an “infidel” religion.
Now I do not believe that Senator Obama is a Muslim and even if he was that would not bother me. What bothers me is that being as inexperienced as he is, he may be a touch too slow to pull the trigger if it needs to be.
I also feel that the second amendment will take a HUGH hit with the likes of Senator Obama, Senator Clinton, House Speaker Pelosi, et al.
Where do I come from:
Father in WW2
Uncle came out of West Point and was at the battle of the Bulge and is still there.
Brother (just died ) Military 34 years
Brother 30 + years Military was at the Pentagon 9 11
Brother Fighter Pilot
Me, would not take me cause of back and eye problems. Should have been in the WTC 9 11
Son there now plans on being there for 20 + years. Wants to work for the Gov. when he gets out.
So safety if my main concern.
Ending thought: During a Perl Harbor ceremony an American Service Man asked a former Japanese Naval Officer why Japan never invaded California. The Japanese Officers response? We knew 9 out of every 10 houses in America had guns.
Sorry this is so long. Won't happen again.
Let the Beating Begin!

RangerDad, that's the best intro anyone has ever had onto this board. Most of 'em are like mine, "Hi, new here, looks like a great place, hope I can learn a lot..." etc, etc. You jumped in with both feet and swinging for the fences (how's that for a mixed metaphor?).

Welcome to the site, and if nothing else, I like your style.

If some yoyo is thrown into prison and gets beat up every day for 5 years, and then given 80 thousand dollars a year as payment. He would be screaming and crying all the way to his lawyers office to sue who ever to get millions of dollars.
I think we kind of need to take a deep breath and relax a little.
But as a side note, I don’t like the toothpaste Senator Obama uses.

Since this has become a abortion/military/economical/history/religious debate .

Flbassman if you look deeper into Obamas plans and I mean really look into the taxes he propossed and the propossed tax cuts there is no way he can deliver and he has already proven through his debates and speaches that most of his policies are pure lies with his statements conflicting ideas and views he had previously put out there .

jcw1503& doc one thing for your guys arguement , Clinton sucked for our economy Freetrade is one of the major factors in our dwindling economy and Clinton was the guy that made it ok to speculate on the price of a barrel of oil , and we have all seen what that can do .

The problem with the house and senate is it's a flawed system . We pay a bunch of people to try to take care of our best interests and they are pretty much there to get rich . It is not illegal for our represenatives to buy and sell stocks in medicines they know are getting approved by the FDA , in the wallstreet world that is called insider trading in the house and senate it's a perk of the job . And the gun debate gets old quick , Yes as a american you have the right to bear arms and I don't think that should be limited to what kind of arms , Our founding fathers wrote that in our constitution not so you could protect your propery or yourself but because they had just freed themselves from an oppresive King and wanted the American people to be able to rise up if the govement had ever become to corrupt and out of controll which in my eyes is the reason gun controll is such a big deal as our country gets more and more out of control , do you really think that your average politician cares about your local gangbangers shooting each other ?

On the military side yes Iraq has become a blunder and I am not a fan of the war there are few members of my family over there as we speak , but America has always prided itself on removing dictators from power and while it wasn't a bad idea to go after saddam it might have been the wrong time and I feel that Bush was trying to finish what his father couldn't . But there is also no way that we could pull our troops out because the area would become so out of contoll we would be forced to go back and it is still bad over there , we get calls from our family that tell us how it really is .

No, he made an additional 161,000 in Senate salary. It is fact, that info came off the official John McCain website. http://www.johnmccain.com/mccainfinancial/

And yeah, right after he came out, I definitely support giving him that money. But right now, he is obviously not hurting for cash, and there's guys comin back from Iraq that need the money a lot worse. I think that the honorable thing to do would definitely be to give the money back.

Again, everyone, I'd like to apologize for having a different opinion than you. If you'd like to put me on your iggy list, feel free. I'd also like to apologize for using respect, outside sources, and tolerance. I realize that I would fit in better if I made statements like, "Dang blacks and jews and Muslims are ruining our country," or "We should put some gators in the Rio Grande," or maybe "God hates Queers," or, possibly my favorite quote of all time, paraphrased, "If you aren't a Republican, you aren't a real Christian."
Sorry for wanting to exercise my 1st amendment right. (Thats in the constitution, case yall have forgotten.)

And Jim, I agree with you. Obama's tax plan is whack. But even more whack is trying to keep us in Iraq indefinitely, and not plan for our future.

And Ranger dad, welcome. When I am not spouting left wing lies and hate, I occasionally make fishing related posts This is a great site, with a lot of great people, who happen to have different views than I do.

Fl, I for one agree with everything you said. Especially about the gators and the queers. They should put them both in the rio grande, that'd really deter the mexicans.
