Re: spooks?
A spook in specific is a Zara Spook, which is a topwater lure made by Heddon. The term "spook" is often thrown arouund to describe any type of topwater lure that has the same "walk-the-dog" action as a zara spook.

Re: spooks?
Hula nailed it! The Zara Spook also has a son, Jr. For smaller ponds and lakes, the Zara Spook Jr. fits the bill. Ethier choice, as Hula explained you have to master the "Walk the dog" retrieval technique which will pay off ten fold in filling the livewell.

Re: spooks?
Its kind of hard to describe, but I'll give ti a shot. It is a slack-line technique to give action to your lure as it goes across the surface of the water. You point your rod tip down towards the water and with slack in your line, you give the lure a consistant small jerk. This makes the lure dart from left to right to left to right across the surface of the water.

Re: spooks?
Adding to what Hula said-cast it out, reel down to it and give it a jerk. The lure will turn either right or left. Jerk again and it will turn back the other direction. Continue jerking and get a left-right-left-right rhythm. The trick is reeling in between jerks to take up the slack. Not hard, but it does take a little practice to get your timing down. You can catch some real monsters on this bait.
