Spinnerbaits...
Do you guys switch blade colors depending on water? I have heard to stay with double chrome willows in clear and or sunny skies, and single colorado gold blade for muddy and or overcast skies

I switch depending on both water clarity and cloud cover. This is the rule of thumb I use:
Blade color: silver when it is sunny gold front/silver rear blades when it is mostly sunny Silver front/gold rear blades when it is mostly cloudy Copper when it is cloudy Night-black(don't fish nights very often) Blade type: Clear-double willow Slightly stained-Indiana/willow Stained-Colorado/willow Muddy-big, single Colorado That seems to work pretty well for me.

Mainly white, chartreuse, chartreuse blue tip, white/chartreuse and chartreuse/blue/white. Occasionally I'll throw gold and copper. I make my own spinnerbaits so I can customize them the way I want.

but as I always say..don't be afraid to try what your gut tells you to do. There is no rule written in stone when it comes to fishing.

Great explanation Reb. Gotta add one more color to your list buddy. Blue Glimmer or as some call it Blue herring. Give it a try bud. Great color and works just about every where.

Reb, do you know what your cost per spinnerbait is after assembly? I was wondering if it cost effective to make my own as well. I checked out the web site and just by going through the parts lists for a very simple bait it worked out to about $2.80 each, but some cases you have to buy at least 100 beads because of the cost break down, so you have quite a bit of materials left over to make more, which may drop the price even more. Do you purchase the heads or pour your own, because this will make a difference in price as well. Just wondering.

Bassguy, I get the King spinnerbait heads-I like the detail. I figured out the cost/bait a while back-if I remember right it was around $3.08 per bait. The thing I like best is I can customize them the way want.

am with reb not only is it fun to build your own but very rewwarding to catch a fish on a spinnerbait that you made.. sure you can buy hundreds of differant kinds but it is a rare thing to actually find a blade that is set up the way "i" want it..i also add a very exspensive blades on mine.. some of mine top out at $17 each from scratch..
zooker

tony and me had lead molds and the whole nine yards, the wire we used back then was way thicker than todays, but like zooker said, its nice to go find unique blades and make your own, I used to have some hammered dark copper indiana blades that were as big as a tennis ball, talk about thumpin!

it is alot cheaper to buy your product in mass bulk supply (by the 1000) as i just figured out after spending 500 bucks on my custom tackle company manufacturing flippen jigs
it is even cheaper if you buy the lead molds and pour the lead your self thats what i do you just have to be careful not to injest any of it or spill the hot lead on you (which just happened to me today ouch)
