Default Best spinning reel under $40?

Need a recommendation for a fast, smooth spinning reel under $40?

I bought a Shimano Sonora 2500FA spinning reel last year (Not the orange one). I also have a Shimano Syncopate 2000FA spinning reel.

Both work great, but the line keeps getting wrapped about the bail arm.

The lines I'm using are:
10# Berkley Trilene Big Game (Steel Blue, Made in the USA)
8# Academy Tournament Choice Mono (Made in Japan)

I may already have the best reels in that price range?

Are the tapered spooles, cross line wrap just a gimmick?

I have noticed that Daiwa's high end spinning reels have a slow retrieve of 4.X. Why?

Dick's Sporting Goods here in San Antonio has/had the older Daiwa Capricorn spin reels on sale for 39.95-49.95 and there may be some available at a Dick's near you. These are orange reels (gag!) that retailed for 129.95. The main spool has the braid-resistant rim and there is an aluminum spare spool included.
One of my fishing "Students" gifted me with one and I find it to be a quite satisfactory reel.

This too... Redcast is my first preference on my reels. Have powerpro on one reel, trilene KT on another, and Redcast on the rest. Love it.

I wholeheartedly endorse the orange Diawa Capricorn reels Dick's is selling. It is one of the best reels I have ever owned.

Love the XL Smooth Casting. Can't stand the Red Cast.
If you wanna pay the shipping, I'll send you a brand new 300 yd 8# and about 200 yards of 1 year old 10#
