I had to mail some lures out yesterday for paint, cost me $1.29 to mail, there were 3 lures in there, a poe's cb, a bagley cb, and a rogue. Either way, I'm in like Flynn

Even in the same state as BATEMAN, I am in! length and girth and for the year if we are going to %, and if we are going to use % of state record, Do we need regions?
Last year we had to get the password of the day or week(something like that) will we need to do that again?

Well this is a big question. Should we do this for the year, or do you all want to do a bi-monthy or quarterly? I personal think for the year would be great. Gives you more time to pull that big one in and ruin that other guys day who was in the lead all year. LOL

If we do for the year we wont need a region unless we do a region challenge too.

What do you all think?

cass's weight system would take care of that. Doing a % system.

I too think WAY FUN!!!

If we do % system then all =. We can all compete against each other instead of just those in region.

Yeah here in SC a good Californian bass would set a record on most lakes, but my biggest so far is 1 an 1/2 pound. You cant beat pond fishing.

Here it is, tell me what you guys think. Any suggestion/ questions?

BASSFISHIN.COM Catch And Release Tournament

I. General Rules

1. The contiguous States will be divided into five regions: North, South, East, West, and Central.
2. After all entries have been submitted, a winner will selected from each of the five regions, and a grand prize winner will be selected from among them.
3. The regions are shown in the map below.
4. The Tournament will run from February 1, 2009 until December 1, 2009. All fish must be caught within that time period, and all entries must be received by Dec. 6, 2009.
5. Only Largemouth and Smallmouth bass will be allowed in this tournament.

II. Entries

1. Entries can be submitted to bfcomtourney@aim.com.
2. All entries must contain a picture with the fish showing the length, and a picture showing the girth.
3. All measurements must be easily read, or the entry will be discarded.
4. All pictures must contain the password, we suggest writing on a piece of paper and placing that visibly in one of the pictures. The password will be given out the first day of the tournament. If the password is not in one of the pictures for each fish, that entry will be discarded.
5. All entries must also include your name, the region and state you caught the fish in, and the fish’s length, girth, and weight (typed in the email).
6. The weight must be calculated using the Tournament calculator the forum.
7. Any entries without these requirements will be discarded.
8. There are no limits to how many times you can enter during the duration of the tournament.
9. Please only one entry per fish, and one fish per entry. If you have more than one fish in an entry, it will be discarded.

III. Scoring

1. Scoring will be based on the weight of the state record fish for the state your fish was caught in.
2. The weight of your fish will be compared to the state record fish, and your fish will be scored by the percentage on its weight compared to the state record.
3. At the end of the tournament, only your largest fish will be taken into consideration, so please, don’t submit entries will smaller fish, if you’ve already submitted one bigger.
4. Of the five winners (one from each region), the largest fish will be selected as the winner of the grand prize.

I knew the state record percentage would really mess over people like me, but I figured it helped make the playing field even.

That being said, I am pretty sure that the guys here in Cali and the South East would do pretty darn well in the Jan through March timeframe.

As far as regions vs nationwide and quarterly vs yearly.

Run it quarterly for region and the whole year for the national part. More or less two events that go hand in hand.

This will help to keep interest all year. Not that we need help keeping interest in fishing, but if someone brings in a 13lbs monster in say Ohio, it would be difficult to beat for the title. I think the thread would die because we would have someone with a 99% and not much posting if that wasn't beat.

The only thing would be providing prizes four times throughout the year.

Oh, and one thing I don't have in the rules above. This is Catch and Release only. You must release the fish you catch. I'msure most of you would anyways, but just a way to promote C&R. The one I did last year was the same.

Just as an example for anyone who may not understand.

I'm gonna use rrw's monster for my example. It weighed 8.85 lbs. or 141.6oz.

The ohio state record is 210.08oz.

So his fish is 67.4% of the state record, which, I'm guessing right now, would rank pretty high.

Boy, if i could only catch that one again, oh well, i guses my chances are pretty good though, the res. i caught him out of was only about 15-20 acres. I've also had fish in the 5-7 lb. range come out of there so lets hope for the best!

I say that the quarterly events, just be for bragging rights. And the prize go for you year.

You think you are hosed Mississippi. Our state record is 21 and 3/4 lbs. To match RRW wish, I would need one over 14 and 1/2 lbs. Oh well I can't complain since I brought up the "I must have been drunk" scoring system

Lisa will beat ya in that, and then turn around an catch that 10lber with the lizards hangin' out of his mouth! :P

I think we may pick winners for the regions two or three times in the time listed in the rules. And then the largest two at the end may get prizes.

BB, rules look good but I dont like the need a pic of the girth. I would have to buy another ruler to wrap around it that show the inches. Would be a pain and I dont want to handle to much before I release. Just a thought. I was going to do the string thing I was told about and then put next to my tape measurer.

I do think we should do the regions, with the yearly so people keep posting.
Could work something out like top person for each region wins a prize quarterly or for the year, and top one for % for the year wins out of everyone. Could also break it down for each kind of bass, SM and LM. I would think the SM would be a closer contest since they seem to be between 5 and 10.

I don't think we should worry about prizes rigth now, just the rules and how we are going to have things run for the year.
