I fish live baits on it a lot. Usually injured bluegill for big catfish.

Soft plastics like centipedes and trick worms are what I use the most, although some guys will use a floating jerkbait like a Cordell Redfin. I've also heard tell of fishing a wacky rig on a C-rig.

I am a C-rig believer. I fish it more often than not during the summer. I throw just about any bait you can think of on it. From 10" Power worms to 4" worms. Mainly I throw Lizards and craws. There are times when a centipede is tough to beat as well as a Brush Hog or Bunjee Hawg. Trick worms work as well. Any soft plastic you have confidence in will work as a C-rigg'ed bait. Give it time. And don't be afraid to throw a hard bait on there as well.

Question on the Carolina Rig.
If you are in the back of a boat fishing a shoreline, are you casting to the shore and pulling it in? Or do you cast on the other side and fish the weedline where it is deeper? Or do you kind of troll the bait behind the boat? I tried last year a couple of times but gave up pretty quickly becasue the bite was so good on T-rigged plastic and top water. |

A different way of fishing a soft plastic. Unlike a T-rig or Texas rig the C-rig is a presentation to cover water horizontally. In the link MSBoy posted you can see how it is rigged. Simply put, you use a heavy sinker, a plastic or glass bead-I prefer glass due to the noise it makes hitting the weight-in front of a barrel swivel, then a leader with the bait of your choice. The swivel keeps the weight from away from the bait so it looks natural and the weight stays in contact with the bottom. Use a dragging retrieve. This is a rig to cover water as opposed to a T-rig which is more of a vertical presentation and is better for fishing a particular piece of cover.

1. Use tungsten weights they give more sensitivity.
2.Don't use glass beads with tungsten. Use brass or metal beads. 3.Dragging is best when there is very little cover. Hop the bait in areas with more cover. 4.Use a leader with less lb test than your reg. line. (this is in case you have to break off). 5.Use a stiff rod, this is to make sure that you set the hook from a good distance. 6. A fast ratio reel is recommended, it helps when the fish runs toward you. 7. Don't use shinny swivels. Bream, crappie and other fish besides bass can hit. Use dark colored swivels. As well as dark colored weights.
