Default 14LB Fluorocarbon

Hey Guys, I'm looking for any brand 14lb test fluorocarbon line. I can't find any anywhere in 14lb. I know somebody suggest to me 14lb test fluoro. for C-Rigs, but I can't find any brand that sell "14lb Fluorocarobon".

Any ideas/suggestions?

it doesn't come in 14# but i would feel comfortable with the 12# for most applications. other wise you could go to the 15#. either way seaguar is the best flourocarbon out there. it's a little more money than the lesser quaility line but with all the money we spend on fishing equipment i don't see how anyone can afford to have a cheap line between you and a fish. seaguar is the only flouro i use, i know you will like it. have you used flourocarbon before? if not, then you should know that it is a little more stiff than mono (although seaguar isn't as bad as most brands). also it sinks so it isn't a great choice for topwater baits.

Agree with C-rig on the lb test but not on the brand. I used Seguar until I tried Trilene Fluorocarbon-NOT Vanish. Best fluoro I have tried, and I have tried just about all of them.

yeah, when i said that seaguar was the best brand out there i should have excluded the new trilene. not because i like trilene but just because i haven't used it. i very much hate trilene mono so i don't see me using there flourocarbon. won't say never, but at least not until seaguar gives me a reason to switch.

OK Guys, thanks for the heads-up that fluorocarbon doesn't come in 14 pound. What about copolymer? What is this stuff? I was looking at GAMMA, I have used it before because it was a reasonable price, but I didn't know it was a copolymer. So, what is it? Is it good for jigs and underwater fishing?

I'd just go with 15# fluoro. Not much of a difference between 14# and 15#.

C-rig, have you ever tried P-Line Floroclear? That handles a lot like the Trilene Fluorocarbon.

The main thing I am worried about is the diameter. Is 15lb much differnet than 14lb diamter waise? Just wondering because I want about 100 yds of line, and my reel holds 100yds of 14.

I use Seaguar fluorocarbon in 16 lb test.I also use the leader material in 20 & 30 lb test which kind of defeats the purpose in the first place. It is impossible to hide a line that thick in diameter.Blackwater by Toray is very good leader material as well, from what I have used.P N J

I use 8# Gama Edge best florocarbon I've used and also the stongest line I've ever used. They do make a 14# florocarbon too.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't help but notice this... The first thing that ran through my mind was Bill Engvall "Here's your sign!" You know, kinda like

Not to be a dick but here's your sign. When I mean underwater, I mean structure fishing and bottom bouncing, instead of topwater or buzzbaits and stuff. I was reffering to if it sinks or not. HERE'S YOUR SIGN!!!!

rebbasser, i haven't used p-line floroclear very much. a buddy had it on one of his reels and i threw it a little bit. it wasn't too bad but i still like the way that seaguar handles personaly.

Dude, lighten up just a little, would ya? I wasn't trying to make you look stupid or anything. If you'll reread my post, I said "The first thing that ran through my head was..." In other words, that was a knee jerk reaction.
Get your panties out of a wad, maybe smile a little, and get over it.

lunker---I wouldn't worry that your reel holds 100 yds of 14 Lb, because that is probably mono and most Fluoro's are smaller diameter than mono for the same # test. Plus when the reel manufacturer said 100 yds, who knows what brand/diameter of line he was basing that on. That should just be looked at as a rough guideline.

Plus out of the 100 yds of 14, or 90 yds of 15 or 110 yds of 12 you will probably never have more than 30 yards out, unless of course you troll with it.

I am old and cheap, so I fill about half my spools with a cheap mono that I never change then tie my good line to that and fill the spool.

Thanks for the tip. I always thought that fluoro. and mono. were the same diameter. Kind of like shoes, one brand is not always the same size, even if the tag reads that it is.

lunker---BEWARE diameter---lol. Samples from my closet:

Gamma Co-Poly 14# test .012 in
Gamma Co-Poly 14# test .014 in
BPS XPS Fluoro 14# test .013 in
Vicious Fluoro 15# test .015 in.

Stay tuned, i am sure they will all change soon. Just find a line you like and stay with it until you find a better one.

I think I will try my luck on Vanish Transition. I want to try normal Vanish first, but I can't seem to find the normal stuff anywhere.

They've stopped making the regular Vanish. I have a little left but 12# is the highest I carry.
