Default bed fishing

yesterday i was fishin this 7+ pound bass on the bed. i hooked him 4 good times with different lures, and every time i hooked him on about his 4th jump he would sling the hook right out of his mouth. i was using a 2/0 wire hook. do u think that i should use a bigger hook?

snagging bedding bass is not very sportsmanlike......just my 2 cents.

I know how tempting it is to try to bag a big one, but I too, feel it's best to pass up the bedding bass, and let them do their thing. (Especially on high pressure lakes and ponds)
To answer your question though, I would have tried a different style hook, maybe a regular offset or smaller hook even.

I tried bedfishing once. After the trip to the "Doc in a Box" to get the hook outta her ( ) she kicked my (). I'm pretty much recovered and, besides, I didn't really want any more children.
Next time, I'll gently pitch a generous gift certificate to Neiman-Marcus into the "cover" and see what happens.

Whats the matter with fishing for bedding bass ? They are going to be released immediately. It doesn't hurt the fish population, as long as all bass are not caught at the same time. (and they won't be) Catching a bedding bass isn't that easy. Just ask the pro's who do this (or at least try).

i dont want to catch it on the bed but my crazy uncle is wanting to have a fish fry at his private lake and this is where the bass is at.if i dont catch it sometime this week then he told me that he is going to shoot it if i dont catch it. so i wuld rather have some fun with it than for him to shoot it.

Ya, thats about as unsportsmanlike as it gets, frying a bedding bass. Although shooting one would probably be worse. In fact, that's one of the sickest things I've heard recently, and it shouldn't be on this board.

Ya, tom your right, Its hard to get a bedder to bite once, so with four, it probly was snagged. Hadn't thought about that.

No, don't call b.s. on him. I caught the same little male 3 times within 10 minutes. I've never seen or heard of that before, so it is possible. Trust me, it threw my way of thinking right out the window.
