Default Trolling motor problem

I have a Minn Kota trolling motor (can't remember the model) with a foot pedal. My problem is when it push the button (switch) to make it go, it does go, but doesn't stop. I should let you know that the foot pedal got wet when my boat recently partially sank in my boathouse. Anyway - any thoughts? Just a bad switch or replace the whole foot pedal?
THANKS
