Default cheap mans pitchin or somthing else

with my new found love for jig flippin and pitchin is a must, so i got flippin down pitchin ehhh. so practicing in my driveway(yep ) and was alright at it. then was just playing around and found somthing i dont know if has a name or will work in real time fishing. almost like pitchen i was just moving my arm back and forth, letting the the line get the pendulum like swing, then just letting it fly when my rod is up. get a good 40 or 50 yards smoothly with no lashes. so is this pitchin, in a differant way or a diff. tech. all together, it seems good in the driveway theroy

It can be fun,but 40 yards is 8 17 ft boats ,trailer tongues with motors, end to end the average driveway isnt 120 ft long either
Most pitching is 5- 20 yards or so,no doubt with an underhand cast one can go 40 yards.
The average guy can toss about 50 yards in a normal cast.
Set up some plastic cups and get to placing it in the cup at 36ft thats 12 yards.
You will come upon places like this with wood with a small area to get a bait into.

Does it look like this? Video by a member on this site(Crankbait). He is very modest, but is really good and accurate.

Interesting. I've always just done the standard- hold bait in left hand- quick raise of rod tip and let fly. I used to think I was pretty good too...until I watched a vid of Gerald Swindle pitching docks......very humbling. BTW wonder where Crankbait has been lately?

Never cared much for the swivel pitch, it looks cool but it is a good way to ruin a good rod by bouncing a 1/2 oz jig off the blank. Watch his video closely and you will see him do just that.

I agree. Plus when we flip and pitch we usually have both guys on the front deck and that is a lot of lead and hooks flying around for two guys to be standing in the middle of it .

Swivel pitch to me is for like spinnerbaits, but whatever you use is ok as long as it does the job, like others pointed out takes a tad more room,or a short rod, when sharing space.
