Default Keeping cats out of boat

We have a LARGE cat problem around our place now. Ever since we got new neighbor a few months ago, our cat problem has sky rocketed. They have 6 cats, and still growing.

I want out yesterday to charge up the old Tracker Magna for the wife, and got swarmed by fleas. I guess the cats have been sleeping/hiding under the boat cover. I can get rid of the fleas not a problem, but how do I keep the cats out of the boat?!?!

I've been thinking of hooking up some wire and a battery and make an electric fence around the motor area. (That is where they are getting in at)

sprinkle some CAYANNE PEPPER ont he boat where they tend to jump into ti. they lick their paws and get a real burning sensation, lol. doesn't kill em. but they'll remember not to get in oyur boat again. i did this on our cars once. sprinkled it across the hoods and such. never had a cat print or claw marks again.

I had them crawling on my wifes new Yukon and my truck. I put half a plastic cup of moth balls on the hood when I got home and I have never seen another paw print on them. Nor a cat anymore.

A bowl full of antifreeze in the boat will take care of them.

The moth ball idea is a good one. We keep moth balls on the ground next to our garage to keep other animals out (racoons, opossums, armadillos, etc). Seems to work cause they stay our of the trash now.

I know Bama's idea works well if they're getting on counters our digging in flower beds so I'm assuming it would work in a boat. I'm not a big fan of cats so I'd probably go with the more permanent solution a couple of the guys suggested.

You guys are d1cks. No need to be killing them. Just make them uncomfortable, and they will stay away.

But they taste sooo good in stew!

I like the Cayenne pepper idea though, I think it would be fun to watch lol. Not to mention if you did feel like killing them they'd be pre-seasoned, ready for the pot!

I know John. Cayenne is a good way to do it. Shooting them and what not is ridiculous. I just figured the d1cks would know who they were.

If you've ever had a cat destroy a boat seat, put scratches on the hood of your brand new truck, attack your little sister or cousins, kill your ducks and chickens, then you might understand why I hate cats. Shot plenty of them when I lived in the country, now that I live in the city I have to settle for a live trap and call to animal control to get them out of there. Most of them probably never get adopted by anyone anways so what difference does it make if they do it or if I do it? A well placed bullet does the same thing just as fast as the shot the vet gives them.

I believe this thread was about keeping them out of a boat. Seems like all of your other problems could be solved with a good dog.

I'd have to go with the pepper or mothball method. I have a strong dislike for cats myself, but I have a problem killing something unless I'm going to eat it. Unless it's a snake, and even then I hear my father in my head, "Don't kill anything you won't eat". And I don't like stir-fry that much.

I hate cats too but would not kill them(sneaky little bastards). Why do people get them as pets and then allow them to be outside all the time?If you don't want them don't buy them.

I'm trying the moth balls, and traps, and if that doesn't work, the electrical fence or the nail and carpet strips will be tryed. I hate cats also, and don't plan on another dog. The last cat we caught got a water bath from the hose for about a min. or so, I open the cage and man oh man, I think it hit the ground maybe 5 times before it jumped the fence and was gone, but only for a few days. You have to remember most of them live next door. But I'll do what ever it takes to keep them out of my boats. Sorry guys, the darn fleas have got to GO, along with the cats, where I was covered in them, we now have them in the house!!

Catch them in live catch traps and get out the water hose! When get them trapped, spray them down. They will stay away guaranteed!
