Default Line Conditioners , Good , Bad or Ugly ?

I bought some Blakemore Real magic at wally world today. I notice it says to use on braid , mono , and fly. It didnt say to use on Flouro , and thats whats on 99.9% of my reels. Is it safe for flouro ?? Also , I notice it is a Petrolium Distilates product , how would this affect fishing ? Would it negatively affect the fish , and its senses , thereby hurting your day ? I was just wondering what your thoughts on this would be.

Just to make sure, I'd suggest contacting the maker. I've used Armor All for years with no adverse effects on mono, braid or fly.......just haven't used it on flouro either.

I did some reasearch on this product. It says its ok to use on fluoro , however other sites suggest that wd40 and real magic both contain petroleum , and that it actually strips the top coat off lines thereby weakening them. Humm , maybe I wont use this stuff...

I use KVD line conditioner with good results, I use it on everything, including spinnerbait skirts. Give it a try, bet you will like it.

Cmorg, get the KVD stuff. I have both and KVD is the best of the 2. I use it often. Softens and makes my line, braid incouded, memory free and flies off the spool.

I use KVD line and lure on all my mono and fluoro with no ill effects. I've never used reel magic.

KVD Line & Lure works great. It is superior to Blakemore Real Magic.

The only negative of using a line conditioner is that it will often discolor your line. After a couple uses, your mono/fluoro will begin to fade from clear to milky white. Usually this isn't much of a problem, especially since you spray it on the deeper parts of your spool. But just be cognizant of it and make sure it doesn't get on your last 10 feet or so of line.

I use both, often....I honestly think the KVD is a bit better,It tends to last longer and provide smoother casting.,,Not much, but enough for me to notice.

KVD is a polymer blend that supposedly bonds with your line. Reel Magic is a petroleum and silicone blended product that washes off the line when it hits the water. I find that if I apply KVD the night before fishing I have much better results than if I put it on right before fishing. I also always soak a rag in KVD and run the line through the rag while I'm spooling up.

I've never used Reel Magic but KVD is great stuff.

I used Reel Magic until I tried KVD. No contest-KVD is much better IMO. I've used it on all lines and it does a great job.

I run the line through a rag with KVD when spooling up, too.

I have always used it the day of fishing (KVD). I'll have to put it on the day before.

I've used Ardent Line Conditioner and really like it, works both on fluoro, mono, and braid. Cheaper alternative to KVD L&L.
