Default Weekly Lake Fork Fishing Report

Well, the weather has been a fisherman’s dream. The cloud cover has kept the fish active. The shallow bite has been on and off. Wave Tiki sticks, Zoom flukes, and Lake Fork Tackle ring fries or ZigZag fished Texas rigged with no weight over the grass has been good on some days. Top water has been fair to good on some days. Spinner baits and buzz baits can catch a few fish all day fished over the grass. The deep bite has held consistent. Carolina rig, tail spinners, and jigging spoons have been the best baits. Finding fish on your graph and dropping a marker then use your jigging spoon, tail spinner. Or Carolina rig. The drop shot with a Wave baby Tiki stick or Tiki Drop as your bait with about and 18 inch leader has been good. The Bar fish are showing up in good numbers and some have been big. We are catching a few white bass that are running close to two pounds or better. Lake Fork Was not stocked with white bass but because of the lakes above us they have migrated to our lake. The water temp has dipped to 60 degrees. This is setting the stage for the big fish to start showing up with a more regular basics. This will be true for the crappie to. The fish will start showing up on the main lake points up by the dam. Remember on December first the first 25 fish you catch you have to keep. This will last till the end of February then it will go back to the normal 10 inch rule.

Jim could you explain this to me? Is it anything under a certain length or just any 25 bass you catch? I can understand if they have too many and are trying to reduce the # of smaller ones, but why the Hawgs also?
