Default Weekly Lake Fork Fishing Report

Well, the wind is still giving us a hard time. But a new wave of fish is showing up and with warm weather for the next couple of days things are stacking up for some good fishing. This time of year the fishing report runs about the same thing. The sight fishermen need a bright colored lure and a good pair of polarize glasses and plenty of patients. The fisherman needs his or her favorite bait as just about anything will work on the fish as they will be aggressive in protecting their nest. Wave Tiki Sticks and The Bamboo, Flukes, Lake Fork Tackle Ring Fries, fished weightless and Texas and Carolina Riggs with lizard or craw worms will get you bit.
Work the five to eight of water as the fish out there are not getting fished hard. The fish on the bank are being seen by all fishermen and they are the first to get caught. And most many times over. Everyone wants to catch the fish they can see and the other fish are just sitting out there unmolested. FOOD FOR THOUGHT the next time you come out and things are tough on the bite. A light weight Carolina rig works great with a small bait and fished slowly along the edge of grass or just out on a shallow point or along the banks. Five to eight feet of water is about right for the deeper beds. The crappie are scattered from 20 foot to 3 feet. I have caught some on stumps in 3 to 5 feet and some out to 20 foot in the timber. Minnows were working better around the timber. The water temp is 63 to 67 according what cove you are in. The recent rain has some creeks muddy or stained so sight fishing is tough. The main lake is clear but some banks are stained with the wind pounding into it.
I still have some April and May dates open if you want to book something give me a call. May will start the top water action so keep that in mind.
