Default How long can someone "ride" the bassmaster championship

just wondering, no offense to any of them, i was talking to some fisherman today and they were talking about liking the ish frog, one said ish has never won or placed high in BM classic, it got me thinking, Clunn, Parker, Reese, KVD, Ike and now Lane, are the legends, most people know and they are making lures or putting there name on stuff, i expect that, but how long can that possibly last, till the just stop winning or qualifieying, i know Clun, Parker, and KVD can probably sell and market forever, So whats your take, i hope this makes since, as this came out unorganized. Guess what i am trying to say is if these Bassmasters just stop, wonder how long it will be till they would stop being marketable, again no disrespect towards these guys

As long as they continue to compete and be competetive and then even beyond that. There are guys who names are on products who have never won the classic. Of course, the more success a professional angler has, the longer his endorsments will be valued. Now, lets day that Chris Lane fails to place in any tourney for the next two years. I doubt that he will get much attention because he has not built up his portfolio. But if he continues to have success on the tourneyment trail, he'll get all the attention he wants,

As long as they see fit I spose. Just like any other career, you can retire at 60, but you don't have to. I can see them putting there names on stuff, as long people recognize their name as someone who fishes well and has/had an effext career.

Whens the last time Parker, Dance, Houston, or Martin( as in Roland) been competive in a big event...seems to me they can "ride" the money train for a looooong time.

FWIW Parker won twice but Bill-Jimmy-Roland have never won.

The question's a little misleading because they've mostly been retired from competition for a long time. However, not coincidentally, all four have long-running TV shows, thus their names stay out there for reasons other than continuing competitive success.

Roland was BASS angler of the year like 9 times. If you can do that and successfully sell helicopter lures.....your name and it's ability to generate sales may last till death?
Van Dam, the same, till death!
Now a couple of wins may help, (Skeet, ), but your ablity to actually relate and explain solutions (Dance) will greatly reduce short longevity.

I heard he's teaming up with son. His son's recent accomplihments excited the fever again. Saw an interview of him.
It will be fun to follow and see. I wonder if Dance isn't coming out next.
Remember, retiring and coming back is a Favre I mean Wisconsin tradition!

I don't guess I really understand the question. If you are saying how many sponsors will sponsor guys who never won the Classic, I would say a lot of them. The reason the Classic is such a big event to win is because not many guys do it. There are plenty of guys who are great pro anglers and very worthy of sponsor deals that will never win the Classic. Never winning the Classic doesn't mean that a pro isn't one of the best anglers in the world, it just means that he was never able to put it all together during the Classic. It's a hard event to qualify for, so just fishing it puts you in an elite class.

Well Joe you've done it again. That's a head scratcher right there!

Speaking of the 4 guys with "long longevity" Over the years while looking over tourn results I have noticed Jimmy Houston fishing many events, he's certainly not "on tour" but apparently just likes to keep his feet wet. As for Roland I am tickled to see him get back in the saddle at his age. Even with all the ribbing he gets for his shameless marketing, I truelly believe he has a knack for competitive fishing and will be a player. We'll see.

man o man i use "quotation" marks way too much...bad habit

Come on Ken, I spelled it right!
Proper usage is next weeks lesson, YOU PROMISED!

Definition of LONGEVITY
a: a long duration of individual life b: length of life <a study of longevity

Joe you know I'm just having some fun with you.

...reduce short longevity...????????
to better communicate your point try
...increase longevity... or
...lengthen longevity...
...extend longevity...
