That was a pretty good first day. A few guys caught some nice fish and brought in some big bags. KVD finished day 1 in 27th place. What on Earth was Marty Robinson doing?

There are 49 guys fishing this tournament. The top 25 after tomorrow move on to fish the final day, Sunday.

- Pretty cool that the Lane brothers are tied in 6th place at 16-4.

- Impressive showing by the college kid (Andrew Upshaw) tied for 19th at 12-8.

- What happened to Brandon Palaniuk? Did he have trouble with his rig or something, or did he just have "one of those days" that caused him to zero? He's been a favorite of mine since last year's classic. Rooting for him to have a huge Day 2.

- I missed Marty Robinson's weigh-in...what did he do that you mentioned above?

Yeah it was really cool to see the Lane boys tied up. I really like both of them.

I don't know what happened to Palaniuk, he didn't mention anything about boat trouble but he knows the river and he is a very good fisherman. It seems strange that he would zero. I know that some guys made really long runs, maybe he just didn't use his time very wisely.

Robinson immediately jumped on the deck of his boat and started dancing, it was really weird. He danced for an uncomfortably long period of time too. I was really embarrassed for him.

It is apparent to me that Marty's Dr. has him on the wrong meds.

While we're talking about it I really liked the way Poche carried himself.....sorta the anti Ike kinda guy

One other thing I noticed today is that Dave Mercer didn't seem quite as annoying as he did last year. He didn't say "Boom Shaka Laka" or "Frankenfish" or "G G G G Giant Bass" once today.

But he did say "Flippity flop what have we got?" and "It's a hydrilla gorilla". Man that guy is horrible LOL.

There's something about Zona and Mercer that just rubs me the wrong way..I'm not sure exactly why, they both make me want to gag and my skin crawl. Nothing personal I reckon and I suppose they could be great guys...it's just a feeling I get that I wouldn't want to share a boat with either of them. However I think I would enjoy spending a day on the water with McGinnis.

Hahahahaha, yeah he did say both of those new catch phrases a few times a day. Also, "Let's get ready to weigh in!" said like Micheal Buffer, it doesn't really get more lame and unoriginal than that. He was better than he was last season but that ain't sayin much.

Did you hear him say that one of the fish someone weighed in pooped more than 1.4lbs? The joke wasn't funny but I laughed at how quiet the arena got when he said that, you could hear crickets lol.
