I've been a small town merchant for 40 years... I think that makes me pretty un-offendable. I'm just enjoying a conversation in the back corner of our little bait shop.

Basically in my eyes, that goes for anything and everything.

Can't tell you how many times I asked someone the 'whys' and their only reason is.....I've always done it this way.
Never tried another way but yet their way is best.

Closed minds tend to lead a person on a track to ignorance.
Just my opinion.
Plus if you never try anything new, can you really be sure what your doing is the best way.....or just a convenient way.

I'll be looking to better myself and improve my abilities till the day I die.

Fact is, IF I get to meet Peter at the gates, I GOT A FEW WHYs FOR HIM TOO!
I agree, the knot is the weak link in landing a fish so I want all the performance I can get. I tears me up when someone says I use the xxxx knot and never had a problem. It is so easy to test one knot against another to prove the performance or lack of it. I guess someone can tie most any knot if the line is heavy enough.

Default OK, here's an idea for braid to Flouro...New...

...TO ME!

Now I use Crazy's as a go too but still use uni to uni at times.
Mostly when on water cause I just have a simpler time tying it.

I was/am happy and confident with both.

But I'm lazy.
When I'm going to be using a leader I will start the day by putting on like 5-6 feet of Fluoro. Then throughout the day I clip and change lures and the leader gets smaller and smaller.
So the leader knots are frequently going through guides.
Here's where the investigating begins.

I hate the sound of large knots going through the guides.
It at times, if I wasn't cautious when tying, it will drive me to the point of insanity.
I'll on the next lure trade, snip the leader down to like 3ft.
But still have the tip guide challenge.

So I'm always searching for smaller/smoother knots.

Now this set up is actually two loop knots but it has me intrigued.

Now the likes;
easy tie, both knots
one knot tie when changinging leader...ease
shorter leads...may eliminate guides
long leads should be smooth through guides too...small knots

Dislikes;

I NOW HAVE THREE WEAK POINTS/KNOTS!!??

This alone worries me.

Anyway, for those who are still following this thread,
what do you think?

Joe, that's an interesting knot, and one I haven't seen before.

One of the reasons I use straight FC for most of my fishing is because I take worrying about main line-leader knots. The Alberto, cinched down very tight (with a Finger Saver) is the smallest knot I've found so far. The Finger Saver does help get it tighter than I could without cutting my finger on the braid.

I will give this double loop thing a try this season, but I have my doubts.

You know I thought about a Finger Saver. I think that's what they were called.
Little ring like thumb do hickey, right.
Came out a year or two ago?

Where'd you get yours?
Do you use it only tying braid?
Is this a tool that you carry along and use whenever tying?
