Default June 13th Report

Tide was good tonight and the fish have started to bite a little better. The heat was unrelenting and took many icy cold waters and Gatoraid to keep hydrated. The target was snakehead AKA Potomac Pike and we had several follows and two hooks ups with one landed. Some nice LGmouth also where landed.

What is that red piece ahead of the frog? It looks like a large bead possibly for deflection and keeping the frog from sliding down the hook due to contact with pad stems? Haven't see a frog rigged like that, so I am curious.

Yes it is. First you slide on a rubber stop. Then a clear bead and then three triangle beads. They kinda interlock and create a long bendable bead. They are called offshore bite beads and are used on jets and green machines to place the hook back and prevent bite thru. Normally in offshore you use 100lb flouro so bead has a large hole for the line. The clear bead keeps the offshore beads from jumping the rubber stop. And it reflects light. The whole thing slides tight against the hook and allows the frog/fluke/swim bait to go nicely thru the thickest pads. And pickeral grass.

How to rig a green machine....
