What is the best big bass lure that i could catch the possibly biggest bass on my lake? its a relatively shallow lake but gets to 20 ft in some spots. it is pretty clear water but not florida lake clear. it gets pretty big seeweed and it is almost everywere on the lake. it deffinatly doesnt have big bass like down south but there are alot that are good though. thanks

A jig-n-pig or spinnerbait have accounted for a lot of big bass. So has a big topwater like a Zara Spook. And, since big baits catch big fish a big swimbait might get that fish of a lifetime.

That said, the Texas state record of 18.18 pounds was caught by a guy fishing for crappie using a crappie jig. So you never know.

I'm with Reb. Nothing catchs big fish quite like a jig. In some circles, it's called the money bait.

You say there are weeds on the lake right? Is it the kind that floats on top or the stuff that grows up from the bottom? With either of those I like using a pegged 7-10" worm or 5" tube for punching through the weeds/moss. Also, try a weedless texas-rigged 10-12" worm across the weed mats fished back to you really slow and twitch the rod tip so that the tail of the worm flips up and slaps the surface of the weeds. Or Stanley Bull Ribbits with a glass rattle in each foot works really well too.

Whats been working for me...

In schools: Larger swimbaits will keep the smaller fish away.

On random ledges: 10" worm, or, Jig

On flats: Ripping a jig and a slight pause has produced consistant 4lbs fish.

Vertical: Little George

Even though neither my first 10+ pounder nor my personal best 13.86 pounder were caught on it most of my biguns have been caught with the old reliable jig nīpig.

Apply the excellent lure suggestions in the other replies with the
BDS Philosophy-------
B-BIG (like big lure)
D-DEEP (big bass dont hang with the kiddies, their loners)
S-SLOW (fish it like this)

Then when you catch that 6Lb.+ beauty practice CPR ---
CATCH PHOTO RELEASE
Tight Lines!
P.S. I am keen on BDS spinnerbaits for my big ones...

I'd go with a big topwater or jig with a big trailer.

What he said!!

Also, I'd like to add a large drop shotted senko, using a 1/2 oz weight and 18" leader. Caught my biggest on that.

Spinnerbaits around weed edges. Or bronzeye when the water warms a little. If he misses the frog follow up with a trick worm

Default Storm

This lure is a killer with many of our south african bass enthusiasts. it's big... err huge.. (11cm) and it catches big fish. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's made by storm
