Default small creek smallies

Tomorrow I plan on going to a small creek that runs into the meramec about 15-20 feet wide and ranges from about 1-5 feet in depth for smallies. Should I take a canoe or just wade? What would be some good lures to take along. This is the smallest place I've ever fished for bass and I really have no clue what to expect. Any help is appreciated.

i'd downsize your lures, a smaller spinner bait, some tubes, smaller topwater, and a grub

Wading is nice if the water is warm. Long canoe trips can be tough if you are inexperienced. But you can always wade during a canoe trip if you get into some good stretches.

Baits - that's not too tough....hula/spider grubs, finesse worms, flukes, small senko's, topwater, crankbaits, etc. Basically everything you bass fish with. Looking for numbers then downsize. Looking for a trophy then SuperSize! Base the weight for plastics on the current speed. I like the bait bouncing along the bottom.

Where to fish? Just above or below rapids first, then in the rapids and if not there then try the slow stretches and fish undercut banks and wood.

Gear? I use Med action 6'6" spinning rod with 10lb test line. I don't want to break off a citation with a light action rod and 6lb test. The streams I fish have sharp rocks and plenty of cover for the fish to run under.

When to fish? I prefer the summer time and early fall myself. Water levels are down and the fish are pooled up and easier to find in numbers. Spring can be tricky with rain and muddy water.

Think small. In a place like that a 4" senko type bait can really produce.

We have a small creek out here thats chocked full of smallies. I use foxxee jigs and small lead head tube jigs they are usually very productive. I also use my fly rod with crayfish flies. I fish the bends of the river and open calm flats next to cover. Hope you get to go its alot of fun. I hear ya last week I had a class to go to for work and when I got home I had to change a water pump in my wifes truck so I could go fishing the next day.
