Mono- Improved clinch, or Trilene knot
Fluoro- Improved clinch
Braid- palomar (althoughf or some reason, I suck at tying it.)
Line to Line (no matter what kind)-Albright special.

I like the improved clinch knot because it's very strong and extremely easy to tie. The only bad thing about the IC knot is it doesn't work to well on line bigger than about 17# test.

depends on the lure and line for me most the time a palomar knot covers most applications it's strong easy to tie and is proven to be the best knot for the quote superlines that so many of us love .
And like BB said The improved clinch is my go to for mono

Since I use mostly braid, I have become very good and quick at tying the palomer knot. I have become accustomed to tying an overhand knot on top of the palomer knot to prevent any chance of slippage even though I have never had one slip without it.

And I have become very good at the double uni knot when I tie 2 lines together. The improved clinch knot is what I use to tie mono to lures.

I have yet to use any loop knot but know I will when I start to use the Carolina rig setup more often. I will use a loop knot for my leader. This way I can tie a few ahead of time and just use a double snap to attach it to the swivel.

Palomar almost exclusively for both braid and mono.

Palomar for everything except for poppers for two reasons:
1. It's hard to tie with them.
2. The bait has better action with a clinch.

I even use the Palomar for fluorocarbon, which many say will cut your line.

I hope you find this is the best knot as it's super easy to tie.

When you guys tie the palomar, how much of the line do you double over. I think If I use more, I'll have a better time of tying it.

I make sure I have enough loop so I can lower the lure through without it snagging on the line. I was able to use the palomer knot with the Robbie Buzz Mod. I also use 2 other fingers to hold the loop open. It has taken some practice but my method works for me.

Once you have the loop around the bait and start to tighten the knot, you can recover almost all of the line from the big loop. I only have to cut off around 2 inches when tying a new knot.

I use the polomar knot for everything pretty much. Never had one fail yet regardless of the line type.

1. It's harder with a jerkbait.
2. Actually, a loop-knot is best.

I use the palomar for everything. Just make sure you add a little spit on the knot when you pull it tight.

Oh, I forgot to mention... what are you going to tie a loop knot for? A jerkbait? Just add a split-ring. It'll be stronger than a loop knot, have just as much action, will save time, and have more rattling noise. It won't save you money, but not that buzz cares about that anyways.

Palomar for everything except popers, spooks and jerkbaits, then I'll use a loopknot unless I want to kill the action, sometimes I use a splitring on jerkbait with palomar, but also use a loopknot with the split ring on jerkbait for a little x-tra liveliness.

SC, just run line through the eye, wrap the tag several times around the standing end, run the tag end through the hole between the line and the hook eye, then pass the tag end through the loop you just made. This last pass through makes the difference between the regular clinch knot and the improved version.
A picture's worth a thousand words, though:

Palomar - I'm pretty fumble fingered with most others.

i thread it in and out i don't double it and try to force it thru the eye. this tends to kink the line and produces a bad spot in the line.. depends really on how big a loop. spinner bait 8-10" line loop lenth same for cranks.. worm hooks normally no bigger than needed..reason simple it never fails you are tying up a blade or crank in a hurry and you will hang on either the blades or a hook -dammmm it!!!!!!!-the more loop line lets you back up the knot to get it un-hung...it does suck when your almost tight and it hangs in the split ring-blankty, blank, blank-...

Ditto zook. I use palomar on everything. make a big loop and pull it back out, you won't lose much line. I don't have any problems getting plenty of action on top water with this knot either. But if you want more just add a clip.

Ditto. I can't believe many of the instruction photos on how to tie a Palomar show a doubled line being forced through the eye of the hook. Like he says, thread the line through the eye then back through the eye then pull through as much line as you need to make the loop. Way easier than doubling the line.
