I use them both ways. I will also texas rig them with no weight w/ a 3/0 hook or use a worm weight as needed. I typically use (and only have) the 4" and 5" baits.

5 inch, texas rig, weightless with a 3/0 hook is how i go also... For some reason senkos produce for me wacky rigged, but not the dingers. I go primarily with watermelon red flake, but recently had some success with the junebug..

FROG,
I prefer the watermelon/red 5 inch rigged on a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG hook weightless and drop them along standing stimber and stumps, similar to fishing a jin n' pig. My second choice in colors is watermelon/candy, with a third choice of watermelon/purple flake.

My best fish have come on 5" pumpkin with chartreuse tail or watermelon candy. Use a 4/0 EWG hook weightless texas rigged and let it fall on a semi-slack line. Fish can't seen to resist the shimmy on the way down. As Jackl says, toss at any cover you see. Try skipping them under boat docks and watch your line as it sinks. If there is a fish ther, he will grab it almost immediatley.
I use Tiki Sticks as I do not like the hook slot on Dingers and Senkos dont last for more than 1 fish if that!

I fish 4" yums texas weightless. They can not take the slow horizontal fall rate of a senko. Use a weight if you have to but your killing the action of the bait. The slow fall is what triggers the bite. If you need weight to get down in the wind try a C-rig. By the way, this is a shallow water bait, not intended for deep water fishing. If your going to weigh it down for deep fishing use the C-rig so you can still try to get the action of the slow fall.

Weightless T-rig or Wacky. Both will catch fish.
