Does anyone have any experience with this type of rig? Looks a bid different than your standard TX rigged plastics, kinda interesting. Looking forward to some feedback.

I think Owner released hooks for this at Icast..The jig rig...Pretty pricey too if I remember right.
But I think it looks good,and will definitely try rigging a few of my own to try.

Definitely gonna try it! Looks like a great little rig. I think it could also benefit from using a high floating bait too yelp it stay horizontal.

I'll give it a try this weekend. A couple things that I couldn't quite tell in the video are:
1. Is he using 2 split rings or just one? It's hard to tell if the second loop is just from the weight.
2. Where is he tying the line? On the weight, split ring, or hook?

Looks like he is rigging two split rings on it...The gammy hook he's using is a welded eye with a one free ring already...

In the tank portion,it looks like he's tied to the center ring..But its really hard to tell.

I watched the viedo a few times pausing it to study what he was doing. From what I see, he is only using one split ring to join the hook to the weight. He is tying his line dirrectly to the hook allowing total free movement of the split ring and weight. This reminds me of a drop shot minus the leader line. It looks like a really neat way to work a plastic bait. I can see this really shining in deep water situations! Have to give this a try.

Looks like a variation of a Neko or Izzy rig to me. Should produce a unique action, looks like it would be good for different types of pitchin and flippin.

Was just thinking that this should produce an action very similar to the biffle bug and biffle head setup.

fishing with jika rig is wery interesting ,you do not fell any jerk on a bite but a slow pull so you have to be ready
use Havoc grass pig , craw fatty, pit boss or any creature
made my rig brazing a ring on a gamagazu 5 0 wide gap and ading a split ring for the weight (long drop shot weigh) the line is connected to the welded ring
also wery easy to fish it true mat, much lighter and less bulkier than a fliping jig

now this i like alot. more naturel movement of the bait. BUT.......how does this work in grass? is it better, does it hang up and pull more grass? anyone who has tried this please tell me. i am VERY interested in what happens with this in grass.

I like the action that it has. However, it's interesting that they compared it to a regular T rig. With the T rig, the bait will always nose down. This would be more fairly compared to a jig rig. If you put the same bait on a bare 1/4 or 3/8 unskirted jig, then it will also hang horizontily, the only difference then would be that it doesn't have quite as much free swinging motion. As Tav pointed out, this is very similar to the Biffle head jig.

This looks like it's just a way to build your own biffle rig, but with a weight that hangs down instead of in front. I don't like the unpainted bell sinker hanging down like that. I will stick with biffle heads for this presentation.

I just checked out the video for this rig on YouTube. A person that I believe is the author stated you tie on to the split ring that runs through the eye of the hook, not the hook itself. He also stated that Gamakatsu makes a Superline EWG hook with a welded eye and split ring attached, with the split ring being welded also. However, apparently these hooks are ridiculously hard to find.

Hope this helps, I'm looking forward to trying this out myself. Did a trial run in my bathtub against a standard T-Rig and I must say the Jika looks great. Paca Craw had phenomenal action to it.

I will say that you can easily make one of these with two split rings yourself so long as you use a hook with a welded eye, and it makes sense not to skimp on the split rings since you will be tying to one of them.

I've been playing with this rig for a couple of weeks and two split rings work better. Bait has a lot of action and will catch fish. This week I'm rigging up a heavier set-up and fishing a 12" worm on it.

Made one out of one of the Superline hooks witht he welded split right.. Don't know where I got them, I just had a few sitting around. lol

I used 3/16 oz bass cast weight rather than an expensive drop shot weight because that's the weight I use the most on a texas rig. Threaded the BPS brand of these on the hook... should work pretty hood I think, the I really like the looks of the pit boss on it.

I'm also really wondering how it comes through grass, I thinkin not as good as the texas rig...

Used one split ring. Missed the ring on the hook. Tied to hook instead of split ring. Plans fell through to go to new lake. Went down to the river and tried. No luck.
Bama, came through the grass with some effort. Was using braid. Had a few strands of grass on weight when I pulled it in. Tried punching this rig also.
Want to try again with rig with ring on hook.

Well i gave it a go this weekend. I caught a few short bass and i got a nice thick 31" northern. my only complaint as of now is that it hangs up pretty bad in chunk rock. Im gonna be building some football head versions soon. all and all id say its pretty good i wouldnt say it was any better than a t-rig this day (my old man caught just as many, no northern though ha ha!) but it is a new tool that could come in very handy in the future

To make a ring for brazing on hook take a small nail and a piece of 040 spinner bait wire clamp your nail and the end of wire on wise wind wire around nail 10 to15 time hold end on wise grip and heath up with torch to pink metal take wise grip out and it should retain shape cut leng wise on the nail with dremel tool and you will have 10to 15 ring slip on eye of hook and braze with sylver brazing rod (pink one)from your air conditioned guy
a litle practice and it work wery well (tested to 50 pounds no breaking)
