I tested the jika rig with much sucess.. Found a few problems. The craws i use are smaller craws so i need a 1 ot hook. gamagatsu dosent make them so i threaded a split ring onto the hook all the way until it got stuck there was then barely enough room (if you were patient) to tie a palomar knot.. i put the palomar knot under the split ring and put the line through the split ring this way the knot was protected by the split ring i thought about tieing the line to the split ring but i thought that i might not have as much control over the hook set. Do you all think it would make a difference? (sorry about bringing this old topic back... Thanks !

Go to the website for Dirty Jigs Tackle at dirtyjigstackle.com and check oout the new Pivot Point Football Jighead and see what you think. It looks like something similar or at least an alternative to try to compare to the jika rig. I'd bring up the photo from the website, but I have no idea how. grrrrr

Evidently you should not tie the line to the split ring, from the on-line blog-a-sphere. Don't , or, aren't you suppose to use a welded "super-line" wide gap hook, ones with the eye turned 90 degrees(thus eliminating the problem of having the split ring getting in the way)? The "pivot-point" jig from what I understand isn't fished the same way as a jika rig, it's fished like a crank bait, and doesn't have quite the same presentation as the Jika. I'm interested though, if anyone uses anything other than creature baits or crawls on their Jika rigs, and anyone using the "Pivot-point" jigs?

It's like a midget drop shot. I like it and might give it a whirl when I get home.
