if flouro is invisible
then how come on shaw grigsby's show today his flouro leaders are visible in underwater shots?i have seen this numerous times on shows and have wondered about it.i just don't see that it's as invisible as it's claimed to be.

well i am no expert but my guess is this. flouro isn't invisible, not completley anyways. but it is more so than say mono or braid. probably if you were to see mono next to the flouro you would have thought flouro is dang near invisibe compared to mono. just my opinion and i am sure you will get several more from guys who have more experience with flouro because i have just really started using it in the last few years. but i do like it anyways.

well,it is alot closer to the light index of the water than all the other line types out there, but it still isnt completly invisible.

Maybe it has something to do with the fish? Is there something in the fishes eye that doesnt let them see the flurocarben? I'm goin to try it this year sence I'm using ultra clear lakes. It cant hurt to use it.

I dont think flouro has much of an advantage over green mono. But my catch rate on flouro to braid in gin clear water, had a noticable difference.

Dammit John, How many times do they have to tell you not to think on your own ? They do not like you to think on your own, makes it more difficult to sell their products if everyone thinks for themselves and not beleive what is advertised. I still kind of like floro line, its more expensive, so it has to be better right ???????????????

It's all about confidence (for real this time). I can say that i always fished low-vis green until a few years ago when i switched to flouro. I now catch probably 25% more fish. Now, is it due to general skills gained in three years, confidence, or just better fishing in my home lake...I don't know...but i ain't switchin back!

First of all, I have to say regarding that episode, D**n was that water clear!!!!!!....
Fluoro supposedly has almost the same density as water or something....idk something close to that anyway....so to the fish they can't see it near as easily.... |

Flourocarbon is just a ultra slick coating. I imagine impurities and air can get traped in normal uncoated mono. Maybe fish can see it, maybe they cant.

fluro is made to be almost invisible in clear water with light. without light it is less invisble.

i'd fish with a piece of string if that's all i had.....i select lines for their endurance, casting, and abiltiies to withstand my torture on them....rofl.....frankly i don't think the bass give a care for the lines...they look at the biggest thing coming in their path...(the bait).....just my humble opinion.....

I rarely fish fluoro but will add a 6ft leader to my braid when fishing some of the ultra clear waters in my area. When you can see the bottom in 20ft and braid looks like rope it can really kill your confidence... with the leader it makes a huge difference.

we went in swimming pool and tested fluro vers regular mono..
we used 8 pd and sunny day..you could see the fluro as well as the trilene clear line.. in my opinion, the regular fishing line is same as fluro.. we did not go up to 12 or 17 pd and make test, but with 8 pd and under, i feel no difference that a bass would notice.. |
