Default Double Batteries

my dad suggests to put in a dual battery set up for the lights, future fish finder, future trolling motor and the other for cranking. How do you run that dual battery set-up?

There are two ways to run batteries, in series and parrallel.

Section 4.1 in this page.

To retain the 12v and double the amps you use parallel.

It really is that simple. Just remember that the TM needs a good deep cycle battery because of the long periods of use and frequent recharging.

You can get by with a lot less for a starter battery. I took a 4 year old battery out of my explorer before they crushed it into a cube and I still use that. It cranks the outboard fine and also runs the depth finder and lights. epth finders hardly use any juice, and lights arent that bad either - leds use almost nothing. If that battery does somehow get weak enough not to turn the starter, I recomend taking some jumper cables on board so you can jump yourself from the deep cycle battery.

After the battery died twice on the water Sunday, we're probably going ot be looking into a separate battery for the trolling motor... if there's room.
