Im gonna get me a flippin stick this winter. I plan on using power pro braid. Got any suggestions ? My buddy likes his Shimano Crucial 7'6" Heavy.

7'6'' MH BPS Extreme, thats what I use, I like the mh instead of h because I can pitch the bait a little bit better, and I mainly fish docks and brushpiles when I flip. If I fished alot of Hydrilla or Milfoil I would definitly go with Zooks recommendation.

I'd go with 7'6" H if your fishing grass and stuff like you said. Brand is pretyt much personal preference. pretty much every brand makes a flippin' stick, frog ugly stick to g.Loomis. Personally, I like Falcon, Fenwick, Shimano, and I've heard Kistler makes a great rod. (by the way, they've got a 30% off coupon on the back of Bassin' magazine for all the '08 models.

i agree that brand probably doesn't matter a whole lot in a flippin stick, but i do love my falcon.

I've got a Falcon Original, a Lightnin' Rod, but the one I like best is a Fenwick Techna AV.

That said, a 7-6 H action is what you will want. The brand? Like all rods, the one that feels best to YOU.

Loomis Mossyback 7'5" F/H is excellent for heavy weights. I use it for 1 oz jigs or flippin weights in grass.
I've got a 7' F/MH St. Croix Premiere for lighter weights 3/16 to 3/8 that works nicely for me for wood and sparse grass or edges.
Crucial would be a good choice too. What you looking to spend?

I have actually thought about the BPS Nitro combo. I have never bought a BPS Rod , or reel for that matter. I am a big garcia revo fan , with 4 now , 3 stx's and one Premiere. Do the BPS reels come close to the performance of my revo's ?

You can get the Premiere for around $100 and a decent Abu for $75. Crucial will run you a little more but would be in you range without the reel. The Loomis you can get too if you are lucky and find one on sale but no reel.

Got one 6'6" F/Med Spinning rod. Got it before I bought my 6'6" Crucial. It works real nice for light weight plastics or floating worm and a step up from the less expensive Shimano's I bought way back when. For the money, $65 or so, it's a nice rod.

I was there today.I had stepped on my old K7m crainkbait and they are going to fix it free as always..Great service..Was talikng to Trey and his dad and they showed me some deals they have and i got a 6'8 worm rod.Man this thing is light..They even replaced my dirty kistler hat on them..If i didn't live so close i would probablly have never got introduced to these rods..I love them.3 now, more in the future.

JB, with one or two exceptions all I use are Falcons-mostly Low Riders. The 6-6 MH rods-I have several-are the best all-around rods I have found. Good quality but won't break the bank, either.

Flippin stix ? We don't need any stinking flippin' stix.I don't flip but once or twice a year and the rest of the time they are to long to pitch jigs for my liking. They do look good sitting in the rod rack though. Ivan

CMORG,
I have a 7'6" BPS Bionic BladeHeavy action with a balancer kit on the handle that I would sell for $50.00 plus shipping. It is like new, because, like P & J said, all I did was carry it around in the boat and I found better use for the reel.
Let me know, LabsRus@cox.net

I just bought a Carrot Stix that I will attempt (thats the key word) to flip and pitch with. I only got to try it out once but it feels great. I had one of my reels for crankin on it to try it (since I broke one of my crankin sticks ). What speed reel would yall recomend for a flippin stick?

99% of the time I'm pitching not flipping. And my choice of rods is a 7'0 MH IM6 Shimano Johnny Houston model. The only time I bring my H with me is if I know I'm going to be pitching into some real nasty stuff which is a rarity these days.
