Default Cheap tip

If you need an inexpensive surface temp gauge for your boat, look in the home improvement section at Wally World. Â*I got one there for ten bucks that runs on one AAA battery and reads inside and outside temp. Â*Mount the outside temp probe in the water, and you can read the air and water temp.

Hey Thanks for the idea, i was about to spend 80buxs on a new trabsducer for my eagle unit so that I had temp on the front of my boat....now I can save the cash..... Can I mount the temp sensor onto the trolling motor?

Thanks again.

I don't see why you couldn't TW17. I've done it before with other temp sensors. I mounted mine on the transome this time, and since the remote wire was only 10 feet long, I just mounted the unit in the back with a piece of velcro.

Used it today on the river. It worked great.

Cajun
Just want to thank you for this great tip. Took your advice & picked one up from Wally World. I paid $2 more for the rectangular model only because I liked it better. They had one for about $22, I think. It had a clock & an alarm. I was thinking about it, but couldn't figure out what I would use the alarm for.

What a money saver!!! Man, I love this board!!!

P.S. Of course I couldn't get away so cheap. I picked up another bunch of baits along with a neat little Shakespeare combo for $40. I just liked the balance and the reel had six ballbearings. A nice setup for the money.

About all I will say against these little temp gagues is they're not made for outdoor use so you might want to keep them someplace where they'll stay dry. But then I figured I can buy a lot of them for what a "good" one would cost me.

I had bought a Minn Kota Temp Gague a couple of weeks ago that was made for use on a boat. It cost 8 bucks (on clearance at Wally World) and crapped out the first time I used it. I figure one of these can't be any worse.
