one more question

I have been fishing at a new lake near me and I have been fishing more toward the shallower ends around the trees and vegitation where the bass would be. I've had good luck and catch many bass but they arent very big. 4 lbs at most. I was wondering, are the bigger bass more toward the middle where its deaper or are they just around but not showin up?

1) 4lbs is a nice fish to me sence I live in Jersey.

2) If you dont think that is a big bass then try goin out to deeper waters and see that you get. Do you have a fish finder? That way you can see the depth and structure below. You can also see drop offs and channels. This will make it much easier.

4 LBS IS REAL NICE.sometimes in summer they are buried deep in the weeds when it's real hot.i use a 1 1/4 oz. jig on a all star im10x big boys 6-10 extra heavy jig rod with 20 lb. cajun red cast to haul them out.a lot of guys prefer power pro for this kind of fishing but i like a little bit of stretch in my line.

4 pounds is great in iowa, but i would say start goin deeper and finding strutures.

maybe this is just me but i have found that bigger fish like "slow" or "slower" presentation such as a plastic worm or a creature bait...but then again a big spinner lure can catch alot of big bass...if your already not trying it i would try slow presentation and if that don't work try more deeper water..and everynow and then i would throw a spinner lure down..for bigger bass i would go anywhere from 4 1/2 oz. to 5 oz.(not reeling to fast, or let it drop for a second or two), and for them big bass(over 4 lbs) i like the spinner bait to be white, with a big blade

the bigger bass are more opportunist, take their time looking for a big meal that they dont half to exert
as much energy

4lbrs are nice out here in Denver,Anywho try upsizing your bait and throw that at them. A bigger bait sometimes lands bigger fish.

I'd look for deeper water with a dropoff.
My fishing here the last several weeks has been about in 7-12 ft of water, is where the bigger ones are laying, beating the heat, plus prob feels more comfortable there, oxygen level greater etc..good luck on hunting them
