Try changing the treble hooks out for Gammies. Usually the factory installed hooks are worthless. I change out all of mine, before I ever fish them.

Same size, but I'd go with VMC. They are much less expensive than gammy, and are just as good IMO. hey, If they use them on Rapalas, they're good enough for me.

And remember that trebles as a rule won't hold a fish nearly as well as a big single hook. I know, they get caught everywhere, your hand, tackle box, other lures, anchor rope, etc etc etc. Somebody once said that they wouldn't need a parachute to go skydiving. They'd just jump with a crankbait in each hand, and would be bound to get caught before they hit the ground. But trebles are usually not as reliable as a single hook for really horsing in a fish. Play the fish a little easier and loosen the drag some. Take your time.

I would just sharpen them...........really.
The hooks should be so sharp you honestly can not handle it without getting stuck. This is a 5 minute job........with a diamond sharpener. I am so glad you had some strikes..........there are many more where those came from. The colors I have always fished with this buzzer are solid white or white black back..........and chrome......blue or black back. These two colors will cover any water you could fish. Even very muddy. The rattle is so loud on these lures you don't have to worry too much about this fish finding them. Don't laugh.......I spray paint mine white and add eyes and/or black back. These fish just see something white anyway.........I guess. Below:#3 and 4 top row L to R are killers..........bottom #3 (L to R)........My over all best has been solid white/black back with red eyes......... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...kEnabled=false
