wow
Wow that's new I just got a warning for not using capitals and not starting a sentence with a capital letter, never thought that the world of fishing would make you punctually correct. I thought this was a forum to talk about fishing and all the different tricks for fishing out there and not a English class I guess that's why I never posted anything before, because I like to talk about fishing and not be scrutinized about my spelling or the way I start my sentences.

You're right, fishing forums are for talking about fishing, not an English class, and correcting somebody is considered rude by many people.
Nevertheless, posts written in reasonably good English are easier to read. And language skill is an asset to everyone, regardless of what they do in life. Writing carefully and doing a little proofreading before posting benefits everybody on the forum.

I agree that grammar should not be a main focus in a fishing forum - to an extent.
There isn't anybody here or very very few, that use text lingo. u no wat im talkin bout. Seriously though, that gets quite annoying on a forum. Capital letters don't bug me, but forgetting periods makes posts hard to read. Spelling also doesn't bug me if its an occasional error, but a lot in one post or consistently misspelling words in ALL your posts also makes them hard to read. BB

No one should call people out on spelling and be rude about it.
There should be forum monitors that should just fix the spelling if there a issue with it. Kinda like how everytime I add a link for my own site they delete it! |
