Yes they are and yes you will. I will defer to the smarter people out there, but cooler weather often means different lures. I would say that I go to Jigs more in cooler weather, but C-Rig will tell you they work year round.
The biggest thing I notice about lures is that the bait fish and crawdads themselves change as the seasons change. (and yes, before the peanut gallery jumps in, we have season's out here)
Many of the same lures will work if you change the presentation on them.
Now I will sit back and read what the real fishermen have to say.....

jigs will work year 'round. i am not saying they will be the best bait all day everyday but most of the time you can find fish that will eat a jig reguardless of the time of year.

I was not saying you were wrong at all C-Rig. I hope you didn't think I was implying that they don't work. A lot of the places I fish are heavy on the vegetation so I use some different techniques until it starts clearing up.

I don't think I'll ever spend $100 on 3 swimbaits but I never thought I'd spend $18 on a crankbait before either.

The bait monkey has taken my wallet and he will not give it back until I go to the grand opening of the new Bass Pro Shop in Ashland, VA. He insists that I have to buy two new rods and one new reel for my son's birthday.

I heard that the new BPS in Ashland has been open for a couple days. Tonight they have the NASCAR guys and a couple pro's. Sat will probably be packed.

if you want to make a good investment for your bait monkey, look into the Lucky Craft Skeet Reese Medium Runner in Chartruse Shad. Last spring I caught the same 10 pounder twice in less than 5 days. Caught her the first time and released her. Took note of where I hooked up with her. 5 days later I went back, and went to the exact same spot, same lure, first cast and hooked up with her. Same length and girth, same location, 99% sure same fish, 100% same lure. This was at a pond that seems unlikely to have 2 or more fish of that size.

Well, I got my BPS gift card from work. Been waiting on it somewhat patiently for the last couple of months. Boss felt bad because it took so long that he added another 100 to it. Next weekend me and the now $600 gift card are off to challenge the bait monkey to spend it all!

I promise that is not what I did on the project to get the card. I had posted I was getting it a couple of months ago. Just ook a while.

And I didn't take it personally

Lucky you a $600 BPS gift card is awesome have fun spending the money.

The BPS in Ashland has been open since mid September, I have already been there once last Thursday. The bait monkey made me buy a new 7 foot medium heavy Bionic Blade Trigger rod, Daiwa spinning reel, Falcon jig box, 30lb Suffix braid and some Rage Tail Anacondas and Lobsters.
