Default a fairly new item

i was fishing this afternoon with a guy who was using rapala stretch braid. with a crankbait.. i cast it a few times. it seemed ok i did not get as much distance as i thought i would have. but that could have been the reel settings..the feel was about like any braid but it has the forgiviness of mono -according to him- has anyone tried this stuff?? i want more info..

oh yeah the guy gave me the 08-09 rapala factory catalog..which covers all 5 rapala company's..

I haven't even heard of it but it sounds like an interesting concept - that is, if it lives up to the hype.

What kind of new stuff is rapala putting out?

Sounds interesting. Also sounds expensive. How could I get the Rapala Catalog?

the factory catalog most can't get it. it is basicly a wholesalers ordering guide. full color pictures of every bait made in every color that rapala,storm,bluefox,luhr-jensen,and williamson-offshore- makes if it is not in this catalog they don't make it PERIOD..

Wonder what fiber they are using to make it? I thought Kevlar was by definition a zero stretch material. Its what they use to make bullit proof vests.

Yeah Zook, I have used it on my spinnerbait rod, just a matter of getting used to the low stretch after using the PP, but still I could get a good hook set. It's not one of my better lines to use. But then again It hasn't been on the market that long for me to make a good judgment call. Carpy

Ok carpy got a question fer ya. Does it still retain its sensitivity factor with the added benefit of a certain amount of stretch and as wel does it still retain its power. Come on man this has got my interest up being a PP user I have always wished it had some stretch for certain applications.

F Laser, I will say this line is a very abrasive resistant and yes it does maintain its power and sensitivity. I fish a lot of rip-rap and wood and have had no problems with hook sets, no problems with nicks in the line or breakage. I plan on using it more this coming year with cranks and soft baits so I can get a better feel. I haven’t used it enough to say that I like it more than PP. Carpy

Dacron . Its been around for years, now its being formulated with the superlines to get specific techniques. I have been using the Stren sinking braid line alot last year when trolling, it does help take the bow out of the line when trolling, resulting in a better strike indication.I am going to spool up my jig rod with it for next year, just to see if it will help , or hurt the catch ratio.I think I will pas on the stretch braid. I don't mind using the drag and a rod with some flex in the rod tip. P N J

You know exactly at what I was getting at. I can see a place for this line if it does indeed live up to its posted charecteristics. There have been times when I wished the PP I generally use would have had some stretch, not because of the rods fault or improper drag setting but the small amount of stretch coulda saved loosing the fish. Thats the only draw back I have ever had with PP is the fact that there is no stretch and when dragging a fish outta the wooly burger areas I fish a slight aount of stretch would actually be beneficial.
