what do you mean it had a signal for a sec?? when i am fishing with mine there is normally 5-7 salites hitting it. is the antenna blocked-the hand helds have an interiernal antenee-it could be some thing wrong with the signal pickups or if it has and extrenal antenee it may have vibrated against something and rubbed a hole in the coaxial cable.. zooker

Flippin,
My Lowrance GPS does that also, but not as much as you describe. Usually, I will hear it beep, advising that it has lost signal, then a few seconds later it will beep again to signal thet it has picked up a signal. I would suggest that you call Lowrance on thier 800 number and talk to a rep. I have had good luck talking to them, and usually they can advise what the problem is. If not, they will give you a tracking number to send the unit in for repairs (usually about $85.00) JackL
