Default Should I be more concerned with air temp or water temp?

Doesn't matter, they were both 41.
So I'm minding my own business this afternoon and I log in and noticed Sam's post and cabin fever and all.
So without even reading it I decide I'm going fishing!
So I pull up the weather...41 degrees...too cold!
But as I'm logging off the weather I see NO wind!
So I put to use my ever improving math skills.
...figuring if it was 57 and a 8 mile wind and full sun(standard high front), I'd certainly fish in that weather. So wind chill and 57 degrees...whala...41 degrees.
So off fishing I go.
Get to pond and Rotary Gardens has left the gate open. Instant SMILE!
So in honor of my great respect for PETA....I FISHED THE GARDENS!
It's cold and I'm not planning on staying long so I take two poles, 1 baitcaster w/braid and floro leader, 1 spinning with last seasons 14lb floro (and no line conditioner). Cold weather florocarbon fishing can be challenging even with conditioner. Rattlin Rapalas on both, bluegill and shad.
So anyway I'm doing what ever, slow roling. yo-yoing, slow erattic just basically messing around.
I'm yo-yoing and my gloveless hands were freezing. So in the middle of retieve yo'yoing and I decide to stop and stick my left hand in pocket holding dead rod in the other. Minute or two goes by and so with the newly warm hand I continue the retrieve and dang if I don't have a bass .
14 incher.
Try to duplicate retrieve only without the hand warming, no luck.
I'm cold, I got a fish, the suns going down along with the temp.
I'm going home......after just a few more casts.
Sure enough if my fears don't come raging out. Next cast, my floro decided to do just what it's supposed to in cold weather.
So anyways I now have a quarter spool of mess between the water and rod tip. Dam, I should of went home!
Get mess unravaled relatively easy and flat out burn the Rap back thinking wasted cast and I'm calling it quits.
3 feet from shore a monster flashes a swipe at the lure. I'm burning this thing.
So one more cast.
Hand frozen , left hand warm up time, dang if I don't get another 16 incher.
Wow is it great to be from WISCONSON or what!

Local pond, quarter of it must have some sort of airation or something 'The PETA Gardens' section. Rest of pond has ice fishers on it. I also have a river that runs thru town. Most everything else is still hard water.

Although this tale is true......I'm pretty sure I could hold my own at the 'Corner'.
Oh and thanks bama (John)
