Default Choke Canyon Fishing Report

CHOKE CANYON
Fishing Report
September 7, 2004

Water Clarity: Stained up River, and Mostly Clear in Mainlake and the backs of Creeks:

Water Temp: 86.6

Normal Pool Level: 220.50; Current Level: 220.64

Black Bass: Above Average, early morning top-water bite on 3/8 oz. Booyah buzzbaits and ¼ oz. Pop-R’s; mid-day bite up to 7.43 pounds on 1.25 oz. Oldham Watermelon jigs with YUM watermelon Crawworm trailer in 4 ft. water on flats with patchy hydrilla; up to 6 pounds on YUM dark watermelon Wooly Hawgtails in 5 - 9 ft. water in areas of creek channel edges lined with hardwoods and submerged bushes. Also, up to 4.5 pound bass caught on 7-inch watermelon/chartreuse tail and junebug YUM Zellamanders on deep-water mainlake structure down to 20 feet of water;

White Bass: Very slow,

Crappie: Slow, most fish reported were caught using minnows and crappie jigs;

Channel and Blue Catfish: Very Good, early morning under the cormorants roost up to 6 lbs. in 10 to 20 feet under floats using Catfish JuJu liquid dip bait and after the sun comes up fish around stickups and hardwoods and on edges of hydrilla using cheesebait and chicken liver in 3 to 14 feet next to much deeper water;

Yellow Catfish: Very Good – Trotlines and jug lines using live perch, minnows, and gold fish next to river and creek channels in 20 to 30 feet of water.
