Post Worm Catching

I am tired of paying for worms at gas stations thathave like three worms in it for five dollars. ive tried three different places around here and it all seems the same. i was wondering whether you had any suggestions on where when and how i should catch good worms. i just went out in my backyard where its normally damp and soaked the ground a little bit. Then i laid a board down . i figured i would check it tomorrow night and see what happens. If you have any tips please let me know.

some places here its a dozen worms for 2 bucks but you usually get more than a dozen and some placces its 2 doz for 2.50
when i was little we would take tha hose and soak an area in the back yard and they would come up everywhere

if you really want a steady supply of nice large worm, look into making a compost pile, goggle it.

I would suggest running the hose for a bit 10 - 15 min then come back and actually dig down a foot or so.

actually, i read a trick about this somewhere. take a stake of wood and stick it about 6 inches into the wet ground. then take a plank and rub it back and forth across the wooden plank for about a minute. come back in like 15 minutes.

Polly and I buy our wormseeds and grow our own worms. We only use the best hybrid wormseeds and plant them in our secret ingredient enriched humus soil during the is 1st week of March, and in two weeks they are on the vine and ready to be harvested. We only harvest the best worms which are about 6 to seven inches in length. We use these for our lunker bass, the rest are left on the vine to multiply for further use. The smaller worms are used for catfish and carp bait. We also package and ship these to our distributors. They will be on your local bait store shelves soon, packaged as “ Polly has got squiremen worms”. Try em. You’ll never dig again. Tha C Man from Snow hollow

mix a small jar of mustard in a 5 gal pail of hot water, dump it in your yard somewhere in a shady spot..you'll get all the worms you need in about 5 minutes.
also works mixing laundry soap powder in hot water.
JMO,but you should start reading some of the articles on kevin's site here before you go posting too much BS.what name did you use on here before fishyskater?

they aren't just going to magically appear from running the water for 15 minutes, these are worms, they're not very mobile and finding them in quantity will be difficult until you find the right dirt, if you don't have the right dirt, then you need to make the right dirt which is why I mentioned a compost pile.

pnj,
yes I remember those, and had them in the back of my mind posting the other crap rofl....I've heard of inserting rods in the ground and hitting them
with another piece of metal, and the worms supposedly come up later...
You'll be hard pressed to find worms for the rest of the summer IMO..
go to a cow or horse farm and sift through the manuar, and get those squiggly red worms.
