lmao WRONG!!! skeeter has NO leg room. is under power rated for size.. handles great. but i have been in much much better boats. procraft, bumble bee, sprint, triton, ranger, champion ALL of them have better layouts..ranger is the more stable. triton has the worst ride. the champion handles the best.. the bumble bee would be the fastest of the bunch-next to triton..

I'm not sure what you're looking for here bud, confirmation that skeeter is a good boat?? Well, personally I liked mine, an 86 Starfire 175. It ran fast enough for me, the ride was a bit bumpy at times, but didn't require a seat belt or anything. I felt it's best attribute was the stablity of it. The only thing I would grip about it was that when I came to a stop, the water behind me would not....
There was ample leg room for me, and the 115 on it seemed to get it on plane fast enough. I do like my new ranger a whole lot better though.....

Skeeters are fine boats and very safe, but if you ask 20 people with 20 different boats they will all say theirs is the best and safest. All of them are safe now days, no one more then the other. Also a boat is only as safe as the person that is driving it!!!

To answer you orginial post agree with me, I cannot, fore I'm a BassCat man!! LOL

I'm with Zooker on this one. No leg room (and I'm 5'9").

i have been in several differant kinds of skeeters. the 17sx has so little leg room a midget would get cramped the 18 sx model also very shy on leg room. under powered.. maximum horse on a 17 foot sx is 115 where as the max horse on EVERY body elses 17 foot boat is 125-130.. 18 foot sx max horse rating is 125-130. an 18 foot triton max is 175, pro craft 150,ranger 175, stratos 175 bumble bee 225..and so on.. skeeter knows this that is why they just come out with the i class boat.. the zx boats are nice but the only 300 horse rated boat is 22 feet long. very big and very diffacult to manuver. plus an 1880 pound hull weight you ar going to need that 300 to push it.. by the way yamaha 300 only puts out 272 horse power..thought i would let ya know... the fit and finish are ok but here is the killer imo you MUST remove the gas tank to get to the batteries.. if you bought one i hope you like it cause i will never buy a bug boat period..

By my avatar you will know I am not going to agree with your statement!

My boat is not the fastest on the lake but she is stable and has a great ride. If you ask every member on here I would hope they would choose their brand considering the price these things cost.

I have a Bass Tracker, it is a good boat, suits me well for the reservoirs wiht motor restrictions up here. I personally love the Rangers, and I wish I had one, i dont care how big, but I do like the 165 VS, affordable and great worksmanship on it. After Ranger I would have to say Triton.

That was an opinionated statement Flyrod. Take several rides in different type boats.
Might change "your" mind. Thats unless of course you own a Skeeter ! Then I can see why you might say this about Skeeter.

Sir,
I believe you have mistakenly attributed to me a post (I know not which,) not of my creation. At no time have I offered a comment on any specific make or model of motor-powered aquatic conveyance.
I have, however, made two posts in this thread, both of which were in fun and, again, made no mention whatsoever of makes or models.
May I recommend the Yellow Pages? Have someone, on your behalf, seek under "Optometry".

As ever, respectfully.

I thought that you said "please agree with me on this one" You mentioned Skeeter as the best and safest boat around.
I have been in Skeeters,Tritons,Nitro's,Allisons,Stratos,Pro Craft's,Cajuns,Champions and of course Rangers.
Therefore it's ones only opinion.
If thats your opinion then so be it.

A SX17 is a just shy of 17' OAL. A SX18 is under 18'. So i think that their horsepower ratings are just about right. As a matter of fact I think all the boats in the SX series are just under what number they are. The three Skeeters i have had the oportunity to fish out of are very stable yet fast boats. I fished out of 1 dual console that I felt could have had more leg room. But bass boats should be single console in my opinion. As far as safest it all depends on who is driving it and what the conditions are.

Im 6ft 2 an got plenty of leg room. I tested most of the name boats an can tell you problems with all including my skeeter zx250 with a 250 hpdi. one thing for the skeeter is the driest of all i drove and ride is very good but what sold me is all the storage. the fellow who said you have to remove the gas tank to get to the batterys not so in mine all is easy to get to even the charger. Main problem is if I hit a big wake an it thumps pretty hard it pops the main breaker to the pannel. Talked to Skeeter about this an it is normal so they say. Kinda pi$$ed them off when I ask if the breaker came from china. All in all Im happy with the Skeeter not the fastest but it will go past the 70 mph (gps) pretty quick an for a 67 year old that is plenty good for me. The boat that let me down the most was the Triton, as it is probably the most popular boat out there but there is plenty of them for sale. Champion or Ranger was my next choice they are very nice and as for ride the Champion I drove was the smoothest an it would fly with the merc 250 x. This is just my 2 pennys worth an not bumrappin no bodys rig cause if they are not happy with what they got Im sure they are lookin to trade as soon as the wife will let them. May all of you fill the live wells ever time you go out. Geno
