Are you fishing from a boat or from the shore?

I'm guessing the shore...........so here goes.

This time of year (when it gets HOT!) the water temps up shallow can get uncomfortable for the bigger bass and I tend to fish farther away from shore in deeper water to catch the nicer bass. If I beat the banks to closely I seem to catch about 95% small fish, but if I back off and fish deeper my keeper ratio tends to go up to around 20 to 25 %. I CAN find a lot more keeper fish up shallow in the mornings and evenings though, just not in the heat of the day.

Hope this helps as I am just guessing you are shore fishing shallower waters.

Good Luck!

i would keep tryin that what i do, and change lakes every once in awhile. it takes me about 50 little boggers before i catch the 4 pounders.

Sounds to me like a pretty good "problem" to have!

A lot of times during the summer, the bigger largemouth will eat up food during dark weather, low light, or rain.

Because of this, the smaller fish come out to eat during other times when more food is available.

Here is my suggestion get out there early and throw a super spook or a smamy 115 or 128 later in teh day try C-rigs off poits w/ 10" worms you will still catch the little ones but have a better chance at a bigger one.

I would try C rigging a Black 10" worm or Black and Red brush hog bigger baits can cause a good commotion in dirty water. I would go 1oz w/ brass and glass aswell for added attraction.
