I was in it. Not really any different than B.A.S.S except for BASS gave me better samples of stuff to try.

yep, used to be a member..They lure you in by promising to send you stuff to field test and then it's yours to keep.I was a member for almost 3 years and never saw the first thing but when I went to cancel my subscription and told them why, they were like "we will see if we can find you something to test".No Thanks .And you will get more letters about renewing your membership than should be lawfully allowed. The magazine is ok,but I'll take Bassmaster anyday..

I've heard about it. I almost fell for the speel. They ask what kind of fishing you do. I told them bass. In the tackle pack that I recieved in the mail was a small package of #14 hooks and some sort of line to be used for snelling the hooks.
I called them and ask what the heck I was supposed to do with this s##t. I said I was a bass fisherman and they said won't what I was sent work? I just bundled everything up and sent it back.

NAFC also doesn't focus just on bass. About 3/4 of their magazine as I remember had to do with muskie, pike, walleye or crappie. Very little and basic info about bass and even the trouts. Its pretty much like In-Fisherman, but even less usefull.

What they did to me was started sending me hardcover books that I didn't even ask for. They were nice books, but they tried to bill me for them. They were around 20 bucks each. I refused to pay. I had a friend that worked for a collection agency and knew all the laws about that stuff. She said that if they send it without me asking that I didn't have to pay for them. I told NAFC this when they called about the money. Needless to say, they quit calling, and I never got another bill from them again.

Yup, fell for it hook line and sinker, (just never got any of em)

They remind me a lot of oh, let's see, the helicopter lure, or is it the banjo minnow? Oh well, it's one of the 2.

They offer a lot and send nothing in return except books and free B$ and you have to buy the books. Not a good deal IMO!

I wouldn't say the NAFC is a waste of money. After all you can use the magazine to line a bird cage, or to start a fire. Saves valuable old newspapers for something else.

There is a guy at work who has a "NAFC Official Member" sticker on his tool buggy. I've always wondered...Do they have "Unofficial members"?

Been there done that. The books though are pretty nice. The first two actually had a lot of info. Other than that Im done with them. They did send me 2 fillet knives, three rolls of Stren and a bunch of hooks and swivels. Other than that they are a pain.

Crown7,

I just got something from them in the mail this week. Sure am glad I saw this post before I signed up. Actually I think I read through the pamphlet they sent and tossed in the trash. Lizards recommended that I join B.A.S.S. so that's what I'm going to do. Sounds like that's the better way to go.

I am a member of NAFC. I like there mag better then Bassmaster because it is multispecies. The only real complaint I have about NAFC is they sent me books that I had to return so I wasn't billed. I Have been a member for oh say 6-7 months, so far they have sent me a few spinners to field test.

Well if nothing else I hope this helps warn anyone else before they get lured in to the bull crap (no pun intended). My problem, my over achieving wife signed me up for the NAFC. Does any one know what i'm to expect for the membership fee?
