Default pulling my hair, this has been asked 1000 times,

i am sure it has, and heck maybe along time ago, maybe by me. i was messing with hooking horny toads, i see this is pretty much made for a single hook, unlike ribbits and some bps frogs. so i rig it with 3 differant hooks, and still somthing aint right. The hooks were EWG by gama Except the 5/0, they were trokar..

so 3/0 by lookin, it is to liitle for a zoom toad, the 4/0 comes close, but by far the 5/0 looks the best, it comes right between the frogs legs and looks like it will make perfect hooksets, the problem, the hook is to wide on the bottem and looks as if it will catch weeds, not sure if it is just becasue the trokar is wider or what. I seen a vid on the net with the creater of the rage toad and he said only use 5/0.. help me guys... i can post pics if it would help

Without seeing it I am thinking that the 5/0 hook is probably just fine. It might look odd to have such a gap between the bottom of the frog and the shank of the hook but you want that wide gap to allow for the bulky bait, so when you set the hook the frog is able to get out of the way of the point of the hook. Have you looked at the hooks that are designed for soft plastic frogs? Most of them have a corck screw that threads into the nose of the frog, maybe you would like them better.

I used to toss the ribbet toads quite a bit before i got hooked on the hollow body frogs. I found a 4/0 screw lok hook worked best on most of them The 5/0 screw lok worked good on the bigger sized toads.

I use Trokar EWG 5/0 for all my frogs and don't have any problems. You will get some garbage on the hook once in a while but nothing major.
