Default Fishing around algae for bass??

Ive been fishing at this lake that has tons of algae. I know the bass are there. They are just really picky and the algae gets in the way.

what lures do yall reccommend?
The water is dark sometimes.

Is the algea floating on the surface or coating the lake bottom? If it's surface stuff, I'd go with a frog type bait such as the Spro. A weightless worm can also be worked across the algea too.

welcome to the site!

i fish a pond that has some thick algae floating in it....like Keith said,a frog and weightless worm would be a good application.....in my situation,..a weightless brush-hog has been my main go-to......lizards all always a good choice as well.

good luck!

You can't go wrong with natural colored baits as a starting point. Try some shades of green with flakes in them to simulate scale iridescence of baitfish. You can also try lighter colors to mimic shad or minnows.

Move on to unnatural colors like red, blue, purple, etc. if that's what they want to eat.

7" Green Pumpkin Berkley Power Worm, Texas Rigged, 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG worm hook, 1/4oz bullet weight. This WILL catch Bass around algae if there's any in there. Use at least a medium/heavy rod and I'd use at least 12lb but preferably 17lb mono.

Heddon Moss Boss.
An easy lure for tossing around the grassmats without really requiring special tackle like pitching 1 oz jigs and Spro frogs would. Target edges and holes and pause often to let the spoon fall into the fishes face. This was my fav lure as a kid. Go with white, black, and frog colored.
