ooooohh, the baitmonkey loves to catch people unaware.

Ever wonder why, at the tackle shop, you always want to buy so much. It's the baitmonkey, he makes you do it. (most fishermen know about it and accept it, but it doesn't go over well with wives, girlfriends, moms, etc.)

The Bait Monkey is invisible and sits on your shoulder telling you you need to buy this lure, that reel, etc. Sometimes it turns into a 500 lb gorilla!
