no one carries it where I live. We have no Sports Authority, Dicks doesn't carry it, and none of the tackle shops do, either.

I bought a rod and reel from Lizards last year that was spooled with Powerpro and I couldn't believe how good it was. However, it is tad bit expensive. Does anyone know hbow it compares to Stren Super Super Braid? I got a few of the 30 lb (8 lb diameter) Strens at Wal-Mart on clearance for four dollars apiece.
Thanks

bro...check a wallyworld near you. A lot of guys have posted that their local stores are putting things on clearance. I picked up 65lb Power Pro for $5 yesterday.

Default power pro

we have been using power pro for 2 years now on all our rigs, pitching, flipping, crank, and spinner.we love it, also one thing i have notice is the line will get in the crack of the eye, and will break the line on hook set keep an eye out for that.but by far the toughest line and sensitive i have ever used .

Wasn't impressed at all with Stren Superbraid. The castability wasn't nearly as good with light weight lures for some reason, it just wouldn't get this distance. The strength was good, but I gave away a spool to one of the youger guys on here. Yes Powerpro is exspensive, however in the long run, it's cheaper IMO. Because of less lost baits/lures. You don't need to respool but about a 1/10th as much. Also if you fill your spool, with cheap mono, (the cheapest you can find, even old line you are gonna throw away), about half way, and then tie the Powerpro on you can fill say, three reels with one 150yrd spool. If I'm not mistaken JackL uses electrical tape as backing on his reels instead on any mono backing.

Tried the stren super braid and it sounded like someone running a freight train through my guides. Now that waas the 65lb test. Being as I make custom rods sounds like this are detrimental to rod guides therefore I wouldnt advise or endorsae Stren. Just aint slick and round enough to keep the wear dactor down. Power Pro when you think about it in terms of longevity is not expensive at all.

For those concerned about the price-I've had the same braid on several reels for several years, and it is still going strong. The only time I have had to respool is when I get a birdnest that requires surgery, and have since learned how to get those backlashes without having to do surgery.
