i see how it is

lol

if any of you have been to the battery at charleston, that gazebo is where i wanna get married. i've dreamed of it ever since i was a little kid and saw it.

well this week i was in charleston, and we went by the battery at night and i saw that it was gone we took a bike tour yesterday of it, and found that there restoring the "Open Air Grandstand" since its been there since 1907. so it may still be there when i wanna get married
its pretty cool. they've got the roof lifted off it with a wooden bracket made to hold it, and the brackets held in the air with a big steel aparatus

Seriuosly man. I pick on ya, but don't rush into any plans for marriage. Get to know each other well and be sure you can live with the things about each other that bug you. Don't think you or she can change those things about each other. Even if you could change them, it's not right to expect it or even try to change someone else. Plus.... Get your education and have a stable job first. Marrige can be a chalenge at times by itself without the added pressure of low funds. There will always be hard and tight times in life, there's no need to start off that way.

This has been a public service announcment from wierd ole uncle stick.

oh i know, i'm just saying thats where i wanna get married at

i'm atleast waiting until i get out of college and a job before i do that.

both her family and mine think we'll last forever and get married i guess thats always a good thing, when both familys are very supportive. haha

but, another thing is, she dosent want me to go to the navy, and neither does anyone else and without any support, i cant do that to myself or them. so that is on the back burner. first i've got to take the SAT as soon as i can , and then see what kind of scholarships i can get, to see if its even a possibly to go to college without having to pay out my @$$ for the next 20 years. then i'll see what goes down

Photog,

Take it from me, you can get through college without incurring 20 years of student loan debt. I managed to make it to senior year of Engineering school without borrowing a dime. That's almost totally without any scholorships at all, since I was older, and considered a "non-traditional" student. That's code for "too old to bother with" lol. All it takes is the dedication to work a full time job while you study your butt off, and go to a state school. Don't listen to ANYONE tell you you need to borrow a bunch of money!!! Repeat that last statement to yourself about 100 times...

I only borrowed $6,000 my senior year so I could take extra classes and work less so I could graduate 6 months early and start earning some money. In that six months, I earned a lot more than $6,000 more than the job I would have been working so it was worth it. Always consider what you're going to get for the money you borrow. Don't borrow just because everyone else is doing it. You'll be soooo happy you didn't borrow when you get your first professional paycheck and you get to keep it rather than give it back to some bank. More money in your pocket to feed the bait monkey.

oddly enough, i want to major in engineering too

but where i want to go, and hope to get into, is USC, [university of South Carolina] which is roughly 14 grand a year.

If i can make it in, i'll try the full time job doohickey, but i'm not sure how it will work out. i'm going to have to work hard enough to pry a book open

Get a beat up car, and get a job delivering pizzas. I know of what I speak. I used to bring home tons of tips...good for cash flow as well. Plus, you can save a lot on food by chowing on free pizza. You won't be living like a king, but it's okay being a poor college student. There is so much social life fun at colleges that is totally free...school movie theater, concerts, parties, etc.

Haha....I actually discovered Dame Ramsey WHILE delivering pizzas. It was a great job...driving around, listening to the radio, meeting lots of people, and getting paid to do it. Only really bad thing about it was when you had car troubles, it cost you double...repairs PLUS lost income. That and getting caught in an F2 tornado. That was an adventure I shall never forget LOL.

I'm not knocking your job, Photog...but trust me...there will come a day (especially now that you're enterring that most dangerous of realms, her world) that you're going to want more cash than bagging groceries provides.

It's not all about money, but the only other reason I can think of you would want to become an engineer is that you like the never-ending fear of making a mistake that kills someone, sleepless nights worrying about deadlines, and being expected to know everything about everything with no time to figure things out. Other than the salary, there's not a lot more appeal after a while. (Hint...hawt chicks don't generally daydream about partying with Engineers )

haha true true,

but, they dont dream about partying with computer guys either now do they

and getting minimum wage at the grocery store isnt bad, considering SC just upped it to 7.25, from 6.55, and previously 5.25.
i'll work for now, making about 160 a week, but once i get out of highschool, a little bit higher wage would help

I figure I was bringing home over $20 an hour delivering pies. And frankly, mopping the store and doing the dishes at the end of the night was a small price to pay.

In a collage town or military town the jobs to have is pizza delivery or stripping. And you just aint got what it takes to be a stripper. You can make a killing on tips chuffering pizzas compared to bagging grocieries. Down side to the pizza thing is getting robbed, but no job is 100% safe.

Talking about tips, there an ice cream place around here where they get about 50 bucks in tips a night. too bad you don't even make minimum wage there.

Hahah...yeah, I was lucky in that respect though...most robbers would probably take a look at me (back then) and go find an easier target. After I ruptured a disc in my back, I was more worried about robbery...that's why I started carrying my lil' Brazilian friend inside my jacket.
