I have caught nothing big yet, but just to proof we have big bass in southern africa.

I quote from our local bass magazine SABass

"This year has been one for the record books first of all a new Zimbawean and All Africa record was set with a magnificent fish of 18lb 4oz (8.295kg), caught by Maxwell Mashandure on a June Bug Zoom Super Fluke on 25 pound test Berkley Big Game Line, and then Julian van Zuydam of Midlands BM landed a bass of 6.29 kg at Midmar dam on a Mojo rigged June Bug Super Fluke on 12 pund test Sugoi line, a new SA record.

This has been a GREAT year for me!

caught a 7.25 lb. in March on a Senko

Caught 3 over 6lb on a senko and a 6.5 on a buzzbait in May

caught my P.B. a 9.25 on a senko in May ;D

caught a 5.9 and a 5.7 on a senko in June and a 4.85 on 4lb test on, you guessed it... a senko

All but one of these fish were caught at Paradise Public fishing area WMA in Tifton, Ga the other 6lber was caught in the St.Johns River at the mouth of Doctors Lake.

Lost one pushing 10lb. last Friday in a farm pond but was using 6lb line and I pressed her just a bit too much and broke off

Still trying to break the elusive 10lb. barrier.Maybe this spring.....

I haven't been fishing long, but I was fortunate enough to catch a 6 1/2 pound bigmouth last June -- what a thrill!!

My wife and I were in a little johnboat w/trolling motor on a smallish TN lake (about 150 acres). I was creeping the boat along the shore, keeping her in position to fish the best areas first, and we were catching some fish -- mostly in the 1-lb range -- on chartreuse grub spins with light spinning rods.

On a whim, I decided to fish the "wrong" side of the boat -- the deep-water side -- and I knew I had a good fish when it hit. After a couple minutes, my wife gasped when I pulled the bass out of the water -- and I could hardly believe it myself. We quickly weighed her and slid her back into the water, because her belly looked distended, as if full of eggs. I don't know if that was the case, but I'm glad I let her go, just the same.

God, I love fishing.
