Default Need some info on procraft 1750v bass boat I jut recieved.

I just purchased this boat from someone who had itsitting up for about to years it has a Johnson Gt 150 motor on it. She received it from her divorce but never used it. I love fishing and this will be my first boat what can I do to see if the motor is still good as long as it has been sitting. And is there any way to see if the engine will turnover with out the key. Looking for good advice.

first thing you need to do is take it to a boat shop. unless you know about boat motors. have them go through the motor for you. tune it up, drain old gas out, change plugs, plug wires (if needed) and lube the entire motor. the 150 is a good motor, had one once myself. but if memory serves, it's kinda old right? what year model is the boat? have oyu inspected it for cracks and weak spots? how is the tramson? seats and so forth. not saying anything negative, jsut asking. the more details oyu can give us about the boat, the better we can help you out. posting pics is a great way to tell us more also.

and welcome to the best fishing site on the web pal.

The Gt was decent but not a fast motor, most likly like mid eighties, extremely tolerant of any oil or gas as not a high compression engine. You can replace the key switch if missing the key, take off the cowling should be a rope start on top,to tell if it will turn over.
Believe it or not most likly plug wires and plugs will still work, mine still had original plug wires when I sold it two years ago,85 model,it ran my 1800 lb 19 1/2 ft ranger 55 mph on transom and 59 on a ten inch jackplate (24 P raker).Had lil over 1000 hrs on it when sold.
