I Got 'Er!!!
Well, I got the Pflueger Supreme yesterday, took her for a test run today, still a little stiff, but she's breakin' in. One question though, on this Pflueger, there is the UBS(Ultimate Brake System). I do not have this on my Shimano. Point being, how do I use this feature and how do I set it? Do I put the dial on a higher number for a higher lure weight?

LL, if it has a dial, the higher the number the more braking action you get.

So, Reb, say it is a nice, calm, 75 degree, sunny day out. Casting a 3/8 ounce jig. Tension is set, yada yada ya...What should I set the dial at?

Start at around 7, then work your way down from there till you get max distance, without backlashing.

Also, I believe the dial on your reel is to prevent backlash at the end of the cast.. and your spool tension will prevent backlash during you cast. double check the info that came with it, but I think I'm right...

Thanks guys...that's what I figured it was for. Question though, on this new reel, I can only cast that 3/8 ounce jig like, 15 yards, whereas I can cast a small Rapala crank about 35 yards on my Shimano Citica. Is this because I have the dial set too tight?

Forget the dial on the left side of the reel (if it's a right hand crank), your spool tension setting on the right side is too tight. Loosen it up for the weight of your lure THEN mess with the anti-backlash dial.

I told you to get a Shimano.
Actually it should just be the adjustment, you can cast a mile with those Pfluegers. Set the spool tension right and then start to back off on the brake. |
