Default Check this weedguard out

I didn't post this photo to endorse this lure. But take a look at the weed guard. Notice how the front bristles are shorter than the rear bristles. The thought immediately came to my mind, would this perhaps be a better way to trim a jigs weed guard? The stiffer bristles would offer initial resistance to snags to prevent hang ups, but the rear bristles would be longer, thus helping with protecting the hook point, but also being more flexible to allow easier hook set. What are your thoughts?

Looks like a "chatterbait" to me, and I've never seen one with a hook guard. I don't really see the need for it on a that type of bait, but as for trimming the weed guard on a regular jig - probably work just fine. I do like that eye on the head, but the eye on the hook should be turned 90 degrees to eliminate the need for that split ring.

That is just it split ring was added due to chatterbait if you add the blade as an after thought like to a normal jig its the only way to do so.
As for trimming ive done in the past at an angle to the hook a lil less resistance due to less thickness near the hook and slides over some things easier but not a lot of difference.

I had one once with a weed like this a few years back. Worked pretty well. I've found that chatterbaits will snag on any piece of wood within reach. In fact, I lost my very favorite one, a chatterbait you made for me, a couple weeks back to a single stickup about 40 foot from the bank when I was shore casting. Man I wish I had my boat that day to retrieve THAT particular chatterbait!!!

Well I have a lifetime warranty on my baits - Just like Shimano - contact my Customer Service Department and ask for Achmed at 1-800-IKILYOU, but be very careful when you open the package.

Achmed will be happy to "take care of you"

Semi changing the subject somewhat,I have several chatterbaits that just stopped chattering the bait?Very lil use,so not bent, blade just wont vibrate easily.
For being a dummy Achmed is funny as all get out.

I think I'll pass. Talked to Achmed, and he just sneered and then laughed. Then he said, tell me cowboy, exactly where do you live. That's when I hung up.

Check the eye on the jig head and the hole where the blade connects to the jig head. Dirt, corrosion, algae, paint on the eye, will all deaden the vibration. Scrape the jig hook eye with a small blade, give it a shot of WD-40 and work the blade around a bit. That should loosen it up.
